alright might as well start one of these build threads. i picked up my 1987 jeep wangler for $300 and it barely ran and didnt pass emissions. its got the I6 4.2 carb motor in it. The plates were 10 months out of date, so it made it kinda funny getting around. i replaced the egr valve, air filter and CAT just to get it to pass emissions. soon after that the water pump went out, so i learned the hard way that my jeep has 4 different water pumps >.<. i also ended up going through 4 thermostats before i got a good one, and 6 different engine temp sensors before i got one that wasnt shorting out interally. so then i drove it for 2ish week and my starter goes out, so i replace that and all my coolant hoses all around. About another 2 weeks after that i go to start my jeep to go to work and find out my timing skipped a tooth. well i towed it to my shop and tore it down and found out i didnt skip a tooth, i was missing 15. so i replace the timing chain and cleaned out the oil pan and oil pick up and resealed everything, and not ive got another rattleing noise that i think is coming from my carb. but at least she runs smooth and quite.
That Jeep looks real clean for the age. Looks basically rust free. Is that the original paint? Nice score for $300. You could invest another $1000 getting it reliable and still be ahead of the curve. Oh, thanks for the pictures!

ya that is the origial paint, but that paint sucks, so im getting it repainted here soon, same maroonish red, there is like one rust spot that isnt bad at all, and all in all with tire, parts and shop fees for some stuff that i couldnt do, like the cat, im into this for about $2000, but now that it runs nice and purrs with no chain rattle or anything i like it alot
my plan for this thing is to take the money from my tax return and money ive got set aside and do a 4" rough country lift with 31" tires and just black steel rims, redo the brake system, new pads and shoes with rotors and drums, posibly new calipers. im going to try to find some ppl to sponser on my jeep as well, so i get their name out and i make some more money. im also going to get smittybilt SCR front and rear bumpers with an 8000 lb winch and some windsheild light brackets so that i can put som KCs on it and light it up. oh ya and i also had to replace the radiator in this thing when i did the water pump as well, and did a new stereo cuz the old one wasnt cuttin it.
so im looking at getting a 4" RC full suspension lift for my jeep and puting on 33"-10.50" tires, and im also going to do the axle regear. so whats the best regear for more road and millage use? and who would be good to go through to get the regear kit?

Go with 4.88 and who you buy them from is really your preference. If you buy your lift from RC, call them to do it, they'll give you free shipping. Probably do the dame on gears. Just tell them your friend got free shipping and wanted to know if you could get the same deal. That'll save you $80!
heck yes man, thanks! and ya im doing this all myself, so its being shipped straight to me, and i priced it all out, for the lift, slip yoke eleminator, all that, with regear and new rims and tires, $3200 :nonono: more then i was looking to spend, but i really want to do this lift, looks so weird stock to me :banghead:
So so I haven't done a whole hell of a lot to the jeep lately, just repainted the top black. After I get a new job it's time for a new front bumper, winch, lift, tires, regear, and paint. Oh and the cb/ antennas and maybe a soft top
Thanks man, she still needs some work, but it's great, first wrangler and loving it, even more now that it's topless, just need to get half doors
