Hi everyone,

I just got a 1995 YJ from my uncle and it is in pretty good condition. No AC, needs new tires, inside door panels. I just changed the radio and the speakers since they were burnt out. Even with all these little hiccups i am in LOVE with this car! Now that you got a background about my jeep i was wondering if anyone knows what tires i can place on this jeep that will give it a nice rugged look without lifting it. ( because lift kits i have seen are very expensive) and if there is any way to put some AC ( I live in Miami Fl so its always HOT!) it has a heater just no cool air when its on COOL. I will be posting up pictures as i progress through this project.

Hi and welcome! I think 31's will fit without a lift, The tire shop will know for sure!

30's if you are going to wheel it. 31's will work if you street drive it.
Lift not expensive $460 for the kit shipped. You install.

A/C is not worth the trouble. Alot of skilled work to install, just get a bikini top (for Jeep, unless you girl then that too) and let the air cool ya.

I have a bikini top I will put it on this weekend and try it out. I was riding without doors just to keep cool and that worked for a bit but there is a lot of cats in my neighborhood and i usually have to put the doors on every night( I have full doors ). Not sure what "Wheel it" means i am still new to this. I am not a chick so me wearing a bikini is a little out of the question but i will let my fiance know that she can can you send me a link to that lift kit so that i can check them out?

Jeepsr4me I appreciate all the help you are giving me. I don't make a lot of money so i am buying everything little by little. I am also looking for the "Nerf bars" for the side's and the front girll and roof lights. Do you all have like specific websites or do you do most of your purchases on Ebay ?

They are basically the same kit but one spring has more arch to it. Some only want a small lift others more.

I have used 2 of the 4" lifts so far and been happy with them. Instructions are not that great but thats what this forum is for.

Money is always a consideration for me. I search every nook and cranny for the best deals.
Craigslist is good for used parts, ebay is too.

remember a lot of people want the stock YJ springs. Both sets I took off I sold for 100 bucks a set.

CJ7 owners use them for lift springs and Samurai owners also use them for lift and soft ride.

Welcome, dont forget the transref case drop down kit. Like 40 bucks.lug tire, with lugs on side wall

"wheel it" means take it off road. if you have 31" and stock suspension you don't have much room for suspension travel. 30" tires give you a little more room for travel with stock suspension.

the BFG 30x9.5 AT is a good fit on stock wheels. It's also a good compromise between on/offroad. Mine just barely rub the leaf springs at full turn. 31x10.5 will rub more on the stock wheels. I also had to modify the spare mount to fit the larger tire. I always wonder what happens to the folks with bigger tires and a factory spare when they get a flat.

Calling a wrecker just seems antithetical to the jeeper mentality. I guess I just figure that 5 wheels and tires isn't that much more than 4, and you have some piece of mind knowing a single flat isn't going to hamstring you, especially when you're miles away from any proper roads. I wonder...why keep the little tire on at all?
