Question 93 YJ 2.5 to a chevy 350 swap questions

This is my first ever jeep been driving it for a couple of months now. I love my jeep but it needs some more power.I am going to (someday) replace the gutless 2.5 in my 93 yj with a 350 chevy. I have a motor but that is it. from what I have figured out so far is the trans and differential wont hold up to the 350. I need ideas on what i should look for to replace them with out spending a lot of money. I really want to stay with a 5 speed trans.should i find a jeep trans or would it be better to find a gm trans? What rear end and front end should i run? Would a beefed up set of dana 44's work? Would rear end from a cherokee work if so what years? I am new to the jeep thing and have all kinds of questions. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Ron in Georgia

I don't know what your budget is, but it can get pretty expensive, but well worth it. The Chevy 350 is probably the easiest engine to marry with other components. A little research, will help to open your eyes, as well as wallet. Novak is a very good site to get a lot of ideas from. They specialize in various combinations. I personally got many ideas from them, for my build. If you want a list of my componants, feel free to PM me. I don't want to bore the rest of the board.........

Ohh I'm sure we won't be bored.

As far as looking for a tranny to mate to your 350 there are a few options. Since you mentioned 5 speed, you'll probably want an NV4500. They are kind of long (almost 19"). I'm partial to manual trannies too but I got a 4 speed for free and it has been great, and its a lot shorter.

I picked up all my conversion goodies from Advance Adapters. They also have a ton of conversion stuff - motor mounts, radiators, bellhousings, t-case adapters and more.

Question

OK it sounds like the nv4500 is the way to go with this and it would be cheaper than buying an ax15 and an adapter from advanced adapters. How would I go about getting the speedo hooked up? I have also figured out that I can go with an 8.8 out of a 97 or newer ford explorer and not have to do much modifying on it and they are fairly cheap. Now i have yet to find out what would be a good replacment for the front axle. Any ideas?

keep it, the d30 is fairly well as long as you don't use tires over 37's. good luck and also look for an adaptor plate for your tcase.

I didnt think the dana 30 would hold up to the power of a small block? If i found a trans and transfer case what would i need an adapter for?
