Hey guys, I have a 89 yj with full doors. I decided to take a trip to the snow and now that I'm up here my door doesn't stay closed. The latch on the door isn't locking or staying closed. Any ideas? Think I'm gonna have to drive home without a door :/

Pull the leather panel on the door off and there is a plate under that with a bunch of screws in it. Pull that off as well and there is a bunch of linkages and what almost looks like threaded rods. On thoes threaded rods a pice clips over them and has a cable attached to them that is connected to the latch and handle. So when you open the door with the handle it moves the rods around to un latch it. But anyways check and make sure one of those clipped pice things didn't come off the rod. If it did play with it and figure out witch way makes the cable tighter and pull it that way and stick it back on to the rod. I had that problem so I put it back on and welded it lol. That reminds me I gotta open mine back up cuz it dosnt open now. The handle on the out side is just flapping around not conected to anything on the inside of the door.

heat up a can of wd 40 on the defroster and spray down the latch assy on the door and try to close it a few times

that's a good idea to. Try that before you rip your door apart lol

Don't think it's ice. It's been acting up. Finally gave out I think

Then take a look inside and see if anything came apart

If you need the plastic clips check the help section at your parts stores they have an assortment package which usually has enough clips to do one door. Did mine a couple weeks ago.

Fixed it this morning. The locking pin on the body needed to be shimmed, so I added another washer. aligned the door and good to go.
