My ECU/ECM died (supposedly. It's the last thing the test said it could be, and the rest aren't it...). However, I have had difficulty finding an ecm- And now, I think I have. However, the part number from my computer is 56028 289, whereas the computer I found is 56027 380. However, my jeep is a 94 wrangler, 2.5L, manual transmission..and this is exactly what the new computer says it is for. Anyone know if they are compatible? I asked the seller too, but maybe I can get a quicker and more knowledgable response here.

It should be compatible. They are the same year, engine size, and transmission so you should be good to go.

Okay-Most I've heard so far. I'll wait a day and see what the seller has to say. And if not...well, has a full return policy.

I do not believe any number supercedes another. Call a dealer and ask a jeep tech or parts. But I ran into that problem with mine when I needed one.

I just replaced my ECU. Interestingly, my old ECU was 1 digit off from what the factory parts manuel said it should be. Ended in 8 and should have been 9 (or vice versa). The one I got the the junkyard had the correct last digit. The old one must have weighed about 1/2 what the new one I got weighed. It seems a lot more heavy duty (and has a huge heat-sink in it where the old one had none). Just my 2 cents. Hope this helps.

are you sure on the numbers? i just looked in the parts catalog and couldn't find either of your numbers. either in 91-93 nor 94-96, yj,tj or xj models.
