Fold Down Windshield Problem

having everything unbolted, having trouble folding down windshield
wanted to replace cowl to lower winshield seal, just keep pushin!!!!!
any thoughts, thanks!!!!

PB Blaster is a penetrating oil. squirt the heck outta those hinges.

will pb blaster affect the painted finish, dont want it eating into the paint
not too many people heard of KROIL, always worked for me, but
im willin to try the blaster

i do not know. one of the old salts will come on and answer that one. maybe spray some under the hood and watch for reaction.

I've never had an issue with PB blaster hurting the paint.

pb will be fine on the paint. i think my cj is 50% pb blaster at this point.

Slowly push both sides at the same time, it could break your windshield from the twisting of the windshield frame, but don't ask me how I know.....150$ lesson learned. Once I did get the cowl gasket replaced it was even harder to get the rollbar extensions bolted back to the windshield, and now my doors are hard to close. I hope the new gasket softens up or flattens out and fixes the problem.

thanks streetdoc, i thought the same thing, cracking the windshield
had a very small leak inside, thats why the gasket change, should
have used silicone on the outside under lip, and been done with it.
sounds like opening a can of worms, ill take all the time i need!!

no luck with the pb, windshield wont budge, does anyone know if
the hinge pins pop out, also has anyone taken out the four bolts
on each side of the hinge, and lift windshield off??? then, what
about the connections for the wipers, told ya, can of worms here!!!

Have you removed the hand screws on the inside above speakers? and did you pb all the way across the windshield?

yup, screws removed, will coat whole bottom of windshield, where it
meets cowl tonight, basically concentrated on hinges, gotta give,
sooner or later!!!!!

no wiggle, doesnt budge, equal pressure on both sides, im about
to abandon this and maybe just try to find half round rubber molding
with sort of a T on back. i have most of the old molding out with
about 1/2 " depth from fron to back!!!!! my can of worms is
gettin empty, very frustrating!!!!!!
