JET seems to be the leader in performance chips/modules, but they don't have anything for my 2.5 L 4 cyl 1987 YJ. Performance Chips Direct, on the other hand, does. They make some impressive claims on the website, but I'm wondering, has anyone on the forums used one of these chips? Are they all they're cracked up to be?

The chip is not worth anything on naturally aspirated vehicles. I have had 6 turbo cars (and still do) and the chip is the $hit on those types of cars. It raises the boost level and gains you 30-40hp EASY. On a natually aspirated car/truck, you might be looking at 10whp if you are lucky. No matter what they claim. So, only you can decide if its worth the cost vs gains to you.

Don't get Jet. Useless chips. Have heard that they do absolutely nothing on the Magnum V8s. Couldn't say on the jeep engines though. I know with magnum v8's people generally tend to go SCT. At least, that's what quite a few people over on dakota-durango.com are using

I have had them on gas and diesel trucks. The diesel truck it was awsome. It was a turbo diesel. More fuel and more turbo equals more power. It raises the HP up a few 100 and TQ a few 100!

Now, the gas motors only see maybe 25-45hp! Not much. Don't get me wrong, it bought one recently for a new truck I got "gas" motor. But, I mainly get them to remove the speed limiter. I buy used, so for $100 it's worth the small HP and the limiter removed.

As the other stated. It's not of HP your going to see. It's worth it more for the speedo and firmer shifts if you have a auto. Then yes, get it.

Hey guys, I just got a performance chip today from PCD and installed it and it actually does work. I have a 2000 wrangler 4.0 and i put that sucker in and set it to max and i saw a big increase in horse power. So if your still looking for one, it was really cheap and it really does work great.

I'm curious what the "performance" chips do to your mileage and emissions. Do you have to reset them to get through emissions testing? Yes, he in SE PA we have that.

I have used Auto Chips Direct and was not satisfied. It would be hard to purchase any performance upgrade for $60 and expect positive results.
Check all products out thoroughly before you buy.

Don't recommend buying chips for CJ's total waste of $
