Tonight, I pulled out ALL the carpet.. It was some of the worst I've seen as far as dirt. I would just flop it 6" and a huge cloud of dirt would fly into the air. It was keeping my Jeep a mess. So I then wiped down and vacuumed the whole floor. I then waxed the whole floor. Sure its dirty, surface rusty in a couple spots, and drilled holes everywhere from the years, but the wax took off a lot of stains and things. And made some parts shiny. Now I have to think about what I will do with the floor. Maybe paint on some Rhino lining, maybe leave it bare, maybe some of those large form fitting floor mats.. I dunno.

This A/C problem is bothering me.. The A/C compressor doesnt come on when A/C is turned on. I already ran a direct 12+ to the compressor and it clicks on fine. Then there is no fuse called A/C in the fuse box. My heater works fine. They do mention an A/C relay, but no idea how I'd ever find that among the 20 other relays under the dash..

I have this kit. I think it is an OEM retrofit? Mine might have come stock??

Auto Air Parts CK-879025 - Complete Air Conditioning Retro Fit for 1987-1995 Jeep Wrangler YJ - Quadratec

No mention of a fuse anywhere in that entire install manual. But there is a relay..

I hate to pull this kit if it would be fixed with a simple $50 part.. But it clutters up a lot of junk in the meantime. Not to mention I would have a few holes left in my firewall if I pull the system out.

Decided against a carpet kit. So i did my Herculiner tonight. Spent a good 2 hours preparing, maybe 3. Scuffed and sanded, tack clothed, spotless. Layer #1 is applied overnight.

Lessons learned: Stir better next time. I only used 1/3 of a can. Seems like I didnt use enough. The brush was a lot easier for me to get the texture correct by dabbing. The roller just wouldnt get a nice texture.

how long did it take you to do that rhino liner and what kind did you use, I'm thinking of doing mine because one trip to the beach there is sand everywhere. Why didn't you rhino line the back fender wells, what do you plan on doing there or just keeping it like it is?

My post tells what I used.

3 hours to prepare very carefully. 45 mins to apply 1 coat, went over it twice filling holes.

i didnt do the back fenders cuz the paint is so cherry i wanted to keep it.

last couple days of work:

removed my cowl grill and am repainting it satin/semi-gloss black. It was all chipped and paint was missing in some places.

also ordered parts: pedal pads, gear shift knob, all new lug nuts, floor mats, body plugs, new softtop hardware, new dash panel bezel, entry guards, hood latch set, windshield cowl rubber, front sway bar bushings/links, leaf spring bushings.

Hey, when i fold up my rear seat so its standing up against my front seats... how do i secure it??

If I am installing my "half top" which goes across the bottom of my trunk tub, do I just remove my rear seat altogether?

don't forget to post pics of the final project, sounds like you have done some great things. I have done a few things to mine as well but nothing to the extent you have. Maybe today on this raining day I will go home crack a few cold ones and do a few new things to the ol jeep in the garage, hmmmmmm what can I do?

Laid coat #3 of Herculiner today. I am trying to decide if i should do a 4th coat. Advantages/disadvantages? I have about 1/4 of my gallon left, so each floor coat uses about 1/4 of a gallon. (Not going up the sides much, etc..)

Sound deadening is my primary desire, but 4 coats might be overkill...

i did buy a proper stirrer to attach to a drill, ($3.50), you really need to mix this stuff up to get all the crustyness spread thru.

I have bought 4 paint brushes, as i need a new soft brush for each coat.

A/C RELAY is in the dist center. in front of the battery. also, A/C will not turn on if the freon is not serviced properly.

ah i misread my own previous posts.. i have only applied 3 coats so far. I suppose I will use my last 1/4 can today rather than throw it away. I am worried about pulling up the tape from the edges and my holes, but ill be ready to razor it if i have to. I want to make sure i dont pull up the liner after all this work.

RIMS..

I am considering keeping my rims since they are paint matched and nice oem.. trying to keep an oem original theme here for the most part. I might buy the Mothers drill ball and really polish them up a bit better.

I dont know if black or chrome would look better if i did go with some new rims.. gold/beige is a hard color to match to rims.. and the pics of that configuration are rare..

i seen a lot of people that covered their wheel wells. i just peeled off my tape after 3 days and 3 coats. Could have been better. Lesson is, do all coats at once, 2 hour intervals. then peel your tape within 2 hours of last coat before it dries real stiff. Thats what most people said anyway..

Since I wasnt super happy with the "look" of the Herculiner, I decided to spend time and scrub my carpets. They look pretty good after scrub brushing and wash mits with soap. I will place these over my Herculiner. Only the 3 bottom pieces. I am not installing the 4 side pieces this time. The best thing is the Herculiner really makes the carpet STICK, and it doesnt move at ALL.

And pics of how my 3 full coats of Hurculiner turned out:

My custom A/C line blockoff, which is installed on the engine/firewall side. I made it the same shape as the factory gasket which I sold with my A/C parts:

Perfect 1" body plugs to cover the main holes under each seat. They were 5 for $1, and shipping cost like $2.50.

?? As the post right above yours says, i put all my carpet back in over the Herculiner. Well, not all of it. I threw away the 4 side pieces, those were useless. I re-installed the 3 main bottom pieces and they stick really well. With none of that velcro crap anymore. Herculiner is my new velcro.

If I were to remove the 3 stock flare pieces.. do they sell a nice black kit which can re-use that stock turn signal position?

Made my decision after looking at dozens of pics and reading pages and pages of opinions for hours. Got the blacks. Am currently painting all the rusty parts which ruin the look of the wheel. I did not get the chrome center caps. They cost extra and would have looked crappy anyway. I did white lettering out, going against most peoples opinion of "black wheels, lettering IN" choice.. I like the lettering and my tires are brand new anyway.

Once I get my final side pic, I will photoshop out the lettering. If I like it more, I will pay them to swap the tires again. I got 1 non matching valve stem so i have to go back anyway.

Default I know what you mean

Hey Plac, nice '93 and good luck with it...I know what you mean when you compare it to your car. I had to sell my '04 Vette to be able to finish my new shop however, the silver lining to my cloud was that I had enough $'s left over to be able to buy my '03 Sahara and like you, there is no comparing the two different vehicles but I do get a lot more use and enjoyment with the jeep.
