Default Picked up a 93 Sahara last week.

(Owned a 2006 Jeep Sport previously, but sold it )

1993 Jeep Wrangler Sahara
70k original miles
New clutch/tires/windshield/radiator/waterpump

Work I have done so far:
12 hours of detailing top to bottom
Front brake job: Discs, pads
Rear brake job: Drums, shoes, cylinders
Replaced O2 sensor, checked tire pressures
Removed my rear seat for now, but might put it back
Oil change to synthetic w K&N oil filter
Removed the Clifford alarm remnants
Removed my old dirty center console
Passed smog (only NO was high, CO and HC were almost nothing)

Concerns:

With my slider windows attached, my doors dont close properly. I have to slam them really hard. Without the windows installed, I can close my doors with one finger.

My half top wont install properly. My front horizontal rod wont push into the windshield holder far enough to engage the lock button. See pic:

Need to find some new interior door panel clips, and figure out how to get them installed. The door panel doesnt have any slots to take the old clips out.

Is that metal box "trunk" worth having, or should I just take it out?

threw some Pioneer 4" speakers in my sound bar today. Perfect bolt up, under stock grills. It had original speakers, they didnt even have any cone!! But they sounded killer.. LOL!

Thanks bro. I'm actually loving it more than my 2009 GTI. But they are at opposite ends of the spectrum.

This Saturday I will probably remove all the seats, remove the carpet, and give it a steam cleaning. And shake it all out, etc.. I just cant get all the sand and dirt out of it with a simple vacuum.. And I want to clean the floor under it before I put the carpet back also.

well looks great now and will probubly look amazing after that! Its just something about the Sahara pkg that makes a huge difference on a YJ, and yours looks sweet, nice find, how much did u get it for if you dont mind me asking, and how do u like your Xterra? I have always liked those even though I would never buy something thats not American, lol

the door panel clips unscrew. just grab them with pliers and turn counterclockwise. they will come right out. be careful as the cardboard of the panel may be brittle. do not pull straight out.

the windshield holder is bent. in your pic it is pushed to the left. pull it back to the right.

what did you get it for, I just recently bought a 93 YJ with 106k miles just curious to know what yours cost. It looks great and I'm sure you will be doing some more work to make it look even better.

I would say that is a good deal for sure, it looks to be in great shape. I paid $4,100 for mine(see pic below) and so far so good only had to get a new muffler but that was $75 and of course I have done some cosmetic things to get it like I want it.

Nice looking Jeep!

I gotta get rid of those bags sewn to the backs of my front seats.. The flap and hit my seat all day long and annoy me.. It's nice to have it all original, but i might just cut them off..

why cut them off? put some velcro on them and they will stay put. storage is at a premium.

Naw.. not velcro.. velcros is useless. they already have velcro. Stick-on velcro will come off just as fast. It doesnt stick to cloth well, and the velcro is probably sewn on anyway..

********************************

Before i forget.. i think when i did my drum brakes 2 days ago the spring in this pic went in the hole below the one shown here. Maybe i put it in the wrong hole. (Thats NOT what she said.....) I wanted a second confirmation on how that spring should look, but ill probably pull off my drums again this afternoon to check it out.

This is NOT my truck, but a writeup I found online. My horizontal spring across the bottom by the adjuster might be using the lower hole rather than the upper hole as seen here:

I do have a slight clicking issue on one side, so i want to open them up, check all my springs, and then adjust again.

thanks I have been slowly but surely fixing it up (new light guards, rhino paint in certain spots, touch up black paint on faded out areas, new bikini top, new radio, mirror movers so I can ride with no doors). My next big purchase will prob be a new windshield, mine has a crack down the middle but thats $200 right there). Just arrived today are my new grab handles and new black hood latches to replace the rusty ones on there now. I think it's pretty cool you can just buy a part here and there for a jeep and slowly piece it back to look almost new again, fun stuff but can get pricey.

This pic I found shows the shoes being different sizes in at least one application..

wow you are really restoring that 93 back to good, I wish I knew more about the mechanical side of things but I would probably make it worse trying to mess with stuff like that.

Lot of problems solved today.

Fixed my brake lever to star adjuster issue. My wire was facing upward caught in the pressure of the two springs over it. That in turn made the lever a 1/2" higher than it should have been, missing the adjuster. One tiny wedge with a screwdriver to aim it downward, and my lever dropped right into place. Also adjusted the brake shoes properly this time. I had them too loose. Then I also tightened my parking brake cable 4-5 turns. It would roll back even on a 5% incline so I knew I had to make it tighter.

Installed the Infinity 4x6 plates into my dash. Long tedious job, lots of cuts on my knuckles. Lowered the windshield:

You can see how I used 2 larger nuts over the studs first. This solved two things. The surround of the speaker itself will be mashed against the metal if you dont use any spacers. That surround is designed to move.. Also, the spacer stopped the attenuation button from being crushed by the dash grill. I can also access that button thru the grill holes if I need it.

I think I am ALL done for now.. every project I wanted to do is done.. I might remove all the seats and the trunk tomorrow and remove all my carpet for proper steam cleaning.. but i dunno yet..

Be careful with the four torx that hold the windshield up at the roll bars. They are made of very soft metal and strip out VERY easily I learned the hard way and have yet to remedy the problem. Right now i have to undo my roll bar covers and undo the two torx at the rear attachment points to fold it down

But keep in mind also that I still beat you!

24,526 original miles
