Rough Country Lift for yj

I realize that there is a thread for llift reviews but I am interested in a specific lift: The rough country 2.5".

I hear they have changed their spring supplier, and so now allegedly they do not have the problems with sagging that they did before. I am interested in the 4" too even though I don't plan to get one as I have merre 31's.

I want to know several things:

1) How long have you had it?
2) What did you pay?
3) Have you had problems at all, and if so did customer service help effectively?
4) Install time and ease.
5) Puctures!

6) How often do you go off road with it?
7) Anything I forgot to ask, I am looking for as much information as I can get about this kit.

I'm really happy with mine so far! I've had it since October, wheeled it once and was VERY satisfied with it rate of flex and overall stability. I also am very impressed with the way it rides and handles on the highway. As for ease in installation, I encountered ZERO issues when applying this lift to the YJ! I went ahead and purchased some boomerang shackles (which gave me an extra 3/4 inch and increased the springs rate of travel). The fit and finish of the lift is superb. I have yet to encounter any issues, but I kept the receipt and RCs contact info. I payed $400 for mine.

What size tires, and lift to you have?

Ive got 31x10.50 bfg Ats ( I know I know, shouldve got MTs lol) Thats why I am getting the 2.5" but I am all for anyone who has the 4" since its the same manufacturer and still utilizes the same system i.e. replacement leafs, shocks etc. vs a SOA.

Not hard at all. Other than the usual aches and pains I suffered because I'm not as young as I used to be.

The hardest part of the install was taking off the old Frankinlift.

It took myself and a few buddies about 5 hours to get mine on. Only had to grind off 2 of the shackle bolts on the frame side. Ride is good, Flew Good, I would buy it again.

Did you end up with the RC lift? Im looking at getting one for a 94 yj. Im going with the 2.5 lift. I dont take it off road and its the wifes daily driver. Any suggestions? The stock springs are sagging bad now but I dont want to put a ton of money into her.

rough country makes a good yj product. everyone who has used them for yj has liked them, myself included.

never any problems with rough country. and the warranty was hassle free many years ago, i run soa, and spent springs once every year or so, just called them up, said they're sagging a little, new ones on the way free of charge.

I ordered my lift yesterday! The warranty is included? I called them and asked about any type of extended warranty and was told they didn't offer one so I assume it just comes with a lifetime warranty, I hope that is correct.

i would check, like i said that was a little while ago, maybe they got sick of sending me springs

. not sure if leaf springs still have lifetime warranties

I am halfway through the install of a 2.5 RC lift on my 88. Installing the lift is not the hard part. Getting the rusted old parts off is the real challenge. I cut off every bolt I could instead of wrenching it.

I used the following hardware so far:

2 sets of jackstands
2 jacks because my springs were so stuck in place
new hi lift jack, because I am adding larger tires
sockets, wrenches, extensions
large breaker bar
cut off wheel BIG TIME
PB Blaster

I will be putting the track bar back when finished in the front, but not the back probably. I use it on the road a lot.

It looks like I will get about 2-3" of original lift back, and then add another 2.5 for the new suspension. With new 33" it looks great....in the front.

new springs once a year, yea, the warrenty has to be good or they would be out of freagin business.

the product sux, yer sayin it yerself w/o even realizing it.

old man springs, r express springs, great soa spring applications that you wont have to be replacing all the time

i ran rc springs b4 and they suck ass, they lose their arch quick, and they dont give you a "true" height compared to their competitors after install.

but yea, warrnety is great
