Canadian here on the Northern MN boarder. Definatly interested if any trail rides come up in Northern MN. It appears there isn't much going on in Canada between Winnipeg and Thunder Bay so figure I need to head south

Forest Lake. Anyone find any trails near the metro? I used to know a guy that would wheel somewhere near farmington.

Mound,mn here! Glad they separated the states out (even if it's been a while)
I am looking for something easy fun and close. Have read about Gilbert and Appleton but they are destinations for me. I am not sure about making the drive and breaking something cause I jumped in over my head or jeeps capabilities.

There's a good park I think north of Iowa City and it won't have that nasty iron ore crap

Don't like the iron orange, huh? It's hell to scrub off of your tires, but I grew up here, so I'm used to it. Check out the Mesabi Mountain Trail. No iron ore. I haven't wheeled it yet, but hear it will break weak stuff....

Owatonna here, it really is a drag not having designated trails to ride.

Agreed. It's a little off having lived here 20+ years and not seeing white.
Def will be in touch with people from here-I have no idea where to trail. I'm used to Brainards road track at 130-not a jeep at 15!

Scottie P here, some of you may know me I worked / built Gilbert, retired back in Nov. Still part of the wheeling community as an active member of NMJ. Club is the first club in MN to have a grant and aid trail. The Mesabi Mountain Trail. Not open to public yet but should be by spring they have let people in to ride such as for C4C and other club functions
The trail has got to be the best in the state for off road
Glad to be on board

There's plenty of jeeps, just not plenty of trails to ride on especially where I am at. There's not too much activity besides rumblings of get togethers.

Most of the Mn jeep owners I know use the mn-jeep.com forum. A lot of great people on that forum. Always some good riding info there also. More so in summer. A few winter runs.

With regard to Derek2010's question...
It depends on what you're after. Having had a '63 with a healthy 350 I can tell it could be scary. Light weight, lots of power and other mechanicals not designed with that motor in mind. Technology has also improved making the ride and capability much greater and more enjoyable. But there is something to be said for being able to smoke a muscle car off the line and being able to go most anywhere you want!
