Any fun offroad areas near St. Louis?

I am new to jeeps and any wheeling. I live in St. louis and just bought a 98 TJ sport. I was hoping someone could let me know of any good areas to take it for some off road fun. I've been reading of a few places like st. joe and lost creek but don't know if my skill or my mostly stock jeep would be able to handle it, or if there was somewhere else that would be better?

I've heard of Potawatomi and might need to try that sometime. I know my uncle just invited me to go with him to Richwoods this Saturday. I'm not 100 percent but I think he might be talking about moonlight in Sullivan. Either way this will be the first time taking my jeep offroad and I can't wait. I think lost creek is up by Warrenton. I have only heard a little about it from the forum and my uncle.

Check out these sites, http://www.offroadnorthamerica.com/login.asp and ATV Trails, Motorcycle Trails, Motocross Tracks, California. On the first one, you don't need to register, just click on Parks/Trails, and the second one is mostly ATVs and bikes, but they do have some 4x4 parks listed.

If you come a little south my way, there's Sayersbrook (having a night run Saturday), Wachita, and a few others.

Thanks guys, now I have Ideas for next weekend. I can't wait to go with my uncle this weekend it's gonna be a blast. I know we are going tomorrow to Richwoods. Maybe if we leave early enough I might be able to stop by Sayersbrook also? What time are you guys starting there?

I'll probably end up there. Would it be fine if an H1 were to join also? My uncle is taking me out to moonlight during the day and I'm sure he would be up for a night run also if your group wouldn't mind. We wouldn't have to camp he has a cabin not too far away.

Check out midwestjeepthing.com or midriversjeepthing.com. Two great clubs in St. Louis.

I am looking to take my new baby out for the first time Saturday. What did you find for off roading around STL? Like you, I don't know her capabilities, but I wanna find out!

Sorry, I probably didn't reply in time greeneyedjm but, I haven't been on in a week or so. I ended up going to Sayersbrook bison ranch with Midwest jeepthing that weekend. That was a good time but, Sayersbrook is only open to groups from what i understand. Last weekend I went to Moonlight racing on A in between sullivan and Richwoods. That was a really fun time. It cost 15 a vehicle and you can pretty much go anywhere and do anything. There are some fun mud pits and a lot of trails and hill climbs. I had a blast and started testing her out and I have been very happy that she still hasn't let me down. I only got stuck once when I tried to cross a fallen tree in the trail. It ended up being a little too high because I don't have any lift and had to get pulled out. Its not too far and I will definitely be going back sometime. Hope this helps.
