Question Jamboree for a newbie?

Hey guys, new to the forum, jeeps, & off-roading. I have a stock JK SportS. I have been wondering about trying out a Jeep Jamboree next summer & the one in Wis would be closest to me here in N.W. Illinois. I have been on the J.J. site & they say that about 1/3 of the participants are novices and that stock jeeps are welcome. Sounds good, but having looked at several YouTube vids of the Wis Jamboree, I am not so sure. I know that there are trail guides to help with the tricky stuff, but I have also seen vids where it looked like Rubicons were being challenged by the trail. So I'd appreciate some input from the experienced jeepers out there. Is a Jamboree a good place for a complete rookie like me to start out & learn some basic skills or would that be jumping straight into the deep end?

Definitely recommend the Northwoods-Mole Lake Jeep Jamboree. Don’t be worried by the videos. Those are depicting the most challenging trails. At Mole Lake they have trails for all skill and capability levels.

Jamborees are a bit pricy, but when you consider that the trails are guided and all your meals are included it becomes just a little more palatable.

There is something for everyone & you'll enjoy it as well as learn a lot during the JJ. I've been to Northwoods the last two years & plan to make it three next year.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Sounds like I should definitely consider Mole Lake next year if I have, or can get that weekend off.

They have a Jeep 101 course that will teach you just about everything you need to know.

MGlickLBZ - I'd love to do a Jeep 101 course. Are you saying that it is part of the Jamboree up there? Or is it something that is offered separately? Is there a website where I can get more info? Any further information you can provide will be much appreciated.

It's part of the Jamboree. See the following link (Page 2) for information http://jeepjamboreeusa.com/wp-conten...woods-2013.pdf
