After hours of working tons of elbow grease with some straps and ratchets, i finally got my jeep out of the water this evening. Things look bad. Real bad. But I'd like to share my story and get some advice from those willing.
My buddy and I went down to the creek and found a way into and all around it. We found a couple perfect places to cross and trails that were great for the jeep. Unfortunately, we came to a spot to cross where we both figured it'd be shallow like before and there was a huge drop off underwater that sucked my front tires in and killed it. Then it just started sinking... It was in the water like that for a day before we finally got it out so I can only imagine what's wrong with it. I've been working for a couple of years and all the money I saved was used to buy this jeep about a year ago so I really hope I can still salvage at least something from it. It's my first car and I think it's run it's course.
I had a mechanic by today to look at it and he told me five to seven hundred to get it up and running again! That, and that I'd most definitely have innumerable problems down the road with my electric and tranny and all sorts of stuff but I'm happy to think I'll get to keep driving it People don't think I'll ever offroad again, but now I know what not to do which is just encouragement to get back out there! I stripped out the whole interior today and im setting a dehumidifer up inside it to suck some of the moisture out.
