Thanks! Yeah that is one reason I got it because of the color, it really stands out. Yes I do know the color its called "Light Khaki Metallic Clearcoat" and the color code is JC/AJC so that should make it easier if you take it same where to get the color done.

I really like your YJ, thats a sweet olive drab

Thanks for the info Moose. The flat olive drab works well for off-roading. If I run it up aginst a tree or rock all I have to do is sand the scratch and re-apply with a $3 can of Rustoleum.

Sounds good. Helpful hint, the nerf bars in the avatar pic are no longer straight

Fan clutch went out and made contact with the radiator. Here's the bolt in all aluminum 2 row I got from genesis auto parts for 168 shipped

Also been working on the metalcloak fenders. Passenger side is on and about half way thro the driver side. I like them a lot more than I thought I would

Yea, not sure how well I could pull off a SOA on a 4 link lol. But yea, they claim 37s on a 2" bb for my tj so I'm sure a SOA for you would clear them. If you've got the cash, it's WELL worth it

Totally overhauling the yj this summer. Did some math and shouldn't be too shy of the price of a 6-7" for you coil guys. Expected to get 6" out of the SOA with new 3" leafs and a body lift at 2" will keep me content with some decent treads. I'll be sure to post the pics as the project continues. The frame is Getting welded and painted next weekend. Spending this week grinding the thing down. Ill def look into the metalcloakes when the time comes.

It is but I'm learning a lot actually. My dad my brother and me are also working on a 79 cj 401 project. Busy as hell around our jeep shop. Decided to sell the mustang to finish my yj. I'm kinda bummed about it but I'm wanting to get into the wheelin, trail, and camping scene now. However I may very well drop a v8 in to make up for my horsepower passion haha axles will be a 8.8 and dana 44. Locked obviously and some strong 31 splines or something like that. Still researching those waters. Any suggestions ?

The 8.8 will get you by if your not rough on it. For the front I'd really look into a Dana 60 though. A 44 uses the same strength axle shafts as a Dana 30 which is good up to 35s unlocked. I know a guy on 37s with a Dana 44 but it's the factory 4.0 and an automatic and he only babys it on the rocks with 4340 shafts

The front turdy is good locked on 35"s with stock shafts. You dont see nearly enough torque with the front as you will with the rear. A 44 would be okay, willing what size and how you plan to wheel it with that V8 in there

Also, the 8.8 is 31 spline already, upgraded is maybe 35? Not really interestrd in that route as the stock shafts are marginally weaker then the axles out of a Dana 60. Rated for like 6,200lbs +. 37"s locked would break them after a serious ass whooping but stay off the skinny and it will work well with 37"s.

Its got great clearance, but strong. The only better option in my book for strength, clearance and price would be a shaved 14 bolt. $$$ but amazing for huge tires!

Thanks for the info! Great stuff. I was literally lost when it came to axles.. Still learning. I'd like to buy once cry once ya know. Dana60 is tough and I could see a v8 in the future but for atleast a year the 4.0 will suffice. I just told 97wranlger there's a guy selling a 9 inch and a d60 for 300. I don't really want to mess around with stretching this frame either. I want to classify it as advanced.. with lockers and I wanna shoot for 37s most likely 4:10 gears. I could settle for 35s though as long as they were wide

I will try to plan a jeep day here up in Northwest Indiana. We have a club up here and we can have a cookout cruise here at one of the parks. If some are willing to drive up north. Maybe this fall? Who's going to the 4x4 fest in Indy this fall?
