They have to be 2' past the top of the vehicle, so if they are on your bumper, 5-6'. Unless you mount to the tub, or roll bar it can be substantially less.

I went to my Jeep club (Northwest Indiana Jeepers) meeting last night and mentioned the Hoosier meet in June and it looks like we will be attending. Right now there are four vehicles interested including me so say five.

Not sure if they will all be staying Saturday night but some will and I'll find out more at our next meeting. Here is our web site and facebook page.

Millfire517 yes please save me one if they meet the requirements. I went by the local Wally world today and they still do not have any flags in stock.

Count me in - I may get there Friday to wheel to if anyone is interested. As of now can't stay Saturday night cause I have to work, but might be able to take a comp day for Sunday. I got plenty of recovery gear, and my tow rig has front / rear lockers + 12k winch if we need something bigger - lol. I should have my front locker in by then, so I can try some of the harder stuff (mainly rockface is what I want to conquer some day)

Are there any rules about driving topless on the trails and having a winch? I have heard some groups require winches on every Jeep. I am shopping for one, just don't know which one I want yet.

Yeah I've seen some groups who want you to have a winch, tow hooks, fire extinguisher, tow straps, mandatory full size spare tire, mandatory cb. Yeah I guess those things are great to have but some people just aren't made of money. That and I'm going for fun not hardcore all out competition. All of those things I will have eventually but for now I'm piecing together my stuff.

No they don't have those rules but I believe they have suggestions on what you should have based on what trail you want to run

check their website.
I think all they require is the flag and tow straps, but not sure. It's been awhile since I checked. I don't have a CB but I do have some nice walkies that I think get CB channels. worse comes to worse I will buy a CB but in these days of cell phones and what not that just seems like overkill. It's not like we're climbing the Andes mountains.

quite a few of us have winches and straps, so ya'll should be OK on that end.

For having no tops, as long as you have a rollcage your good to go. Don't need mirrors, and winch is not a requirement. As mentioned above there should be enough winches on other jeeps to help if needed. I've been there a few times, and haven't yet, had to use any of my winches, and that's doing orange trail, purgatory, etc. A few mudholes can catch ya by surprise, and the tubes can have a killer drop that could incur damage to little jeeps, rigs. Can just have a bigger jeep go through first to check the drop off, or somewhere who don't care much about rear bumper damage.

lol, I've debated getting a second winch to put in the rear somewhere for S&Gs, but am running out of usable room back there for now.....

Sounds good man! I'll add +5 to your list!

Mtu, I'll add you to the list. Although we are reserving campgrounds, if you do end up staying last minute there will still be space

Oh and like others have said, if you have the stock cage or better you're good. You can run no-windows, no-doors, no-windshield. No top as well, you dont have to have any equipment as they don't check. But a sweet old lady will check your coolers at the gate going in

They don't have trail authorities riding around. But if you start being a dummy, people will complain. But we won't have that problem

It's really up to everyone. Depends if we want a really big showing or not, I wanna make sure this stays family friendly as we will have a few "future wheelers" out there and I wanna keep it as much as we can a good atmosphere. I want this to be an event you can bring home to mama!

Oh and BTW, I have an extra CB antenna if anyone wants it for a CB, or to make a flag pole out of it!

We can def do it if so, and if this really is a great event as it should be. It'll prolly be held this fall as well. And as it grows could become a regional or stay a state events . I don't know if the badlands requires a set amount of people to have the event up or a money pay in. Not sure yet. I asked about discounts and he said not unless its like 50 or more!

I haven't been to BLs before, so I have no idea how big the area and campgrounds are, so maybe this is just me- but let's keep it around the same size as it is now? I'm open to convincing otherwise...
