Take a look at the Harken Hoist:

Hoister Selection Guide

They make a couple of models specifically for a Jeep Hard Top and different ceiling heights. I have seen some good reviews and they are relatively inexpensive.

I don't know have a soft top. Buddy of mine has had several hard top jeeps and says that they are a must if you plan on taking the top off regularly.

Well, I want to but it was very hard for me and my husband to get it off and to get it back on! I'm 5'2" he's 6' so he was ok but I didn't provide much help! So, needless to say it's not coming back off until we get one!!!

You can make your own pretty cheap and easy. There were a few write ups on jeepforum (not sure if any on here), on how to make them.

I did a write up on my home-made top hoist. I used 2 ratchet straps, 2 bike hoists bought from Menard's, some 2x4s I had laying around for extra support (didn't match up w/ my ceiling rafters width-wise) and some long wood screws. Took about 2 hours or so to get it exactly the way I wanted it; its not perfect but it works. I can take my top off in less than 15 minutes by myself. All for less than 30 bucks.
(sure there's a joke there...)
