I know it's probably too late but I don't think there are any public places to wheel around here. Most places are privately owned so you would have to be "in the know" to get to them. Did you end up finding anywhere?

I have the same problem. I live in Lorain county and don't have any places to off-road. I do own 100 acres of woods but unfortunately its all woods and you would have to cut a trail in it to get through.

That's a good idea right there. Go ahead and cut the trail and let me know when you're done

I live in Summit County right by Brecksville, and my folks live in Lorain County so I'm often visiting them. I'd love a place to offroad out there. I'll help too - I have a chain saw and if we get enough volunteers with Jeeps and chain saws, we can cut down the trees and people can tow them out to a pile. If you have it cleared, I'd pay a fee to offroad there.

hey guys sorry to revive a dead thread but, on the Vermillion/Lorain area there is a piece of land we used to wheel on... its off of the bauhmhart road exit of route 2 .... i DO NOT KNOW if it is legal or not ... story is as follows, "some lady owns the land, from out of state... she allows wheeling as long as no dumping occurs" ... the property runs along the railroad .... they MIGHT have ownership now.

the trails are very tight (mostly 4wheeler traffic) and there is lots of brush ... you will get scatched if you go all the way back

there are 3 huge mud pits at the very beginning of the trail if youre into that sort of thing

all i know is i have been down their numerous times with absolutely no trouble from the law and pickups with trailers for there quads typically park in a very open area that is visible from the road (if its illegal to wheel and the cops can see you wouldnt they stop you?)

i

i have one time been followed by CSX (the railroad company) ... this was because i took my explorer up next to the tracks and road down them a bit. they followed me down route 2 about 2 exits and then got off.

I dont believe there wuldve been any problem had i not been so close to the tracks

There is also a trail that begins at the end of "High bridge road"

i am almost certain this property is owned by the rail road but numerous trains have seen me and i have never been bothered while on this trail

approach high bridge road from liberty avenue ... make a left when you get to the dead end ... the trail is a "two track" ... in the dead of summer 2 wheel drive vehicles can easily make it through .... in the spring however 4 wheel drive is NEEDED ... in the winter time it is a toss up ... my uncles 2007 jku rubi. got stuck and had to winch (hes heavy and broke through a frozen water/mud hole) .... but that same day my 2.3liter ford ranger 2wd 5spd made it thorugh no problem (throttle was used)

if it would make you feel better CSX could possibly called and asked about the land that may be theirs or at least borders there lands

STAY AWAY FROM THE TRACKS .... TAMPERING WITH RAILWAYS IS PUNISHABLE BY FEDERAL LAW .... no reason to get close to them anyways

if anyone needs more info or has questions....please PM me and i will try to answer as soon as possible .... i am originally from Lorain but right now i am deployed to Afghanistan ... i'd be happy to give a tour of the trails when im home on leave in March

sorry for my poor punctuation and spelling ... im tired lol

The one trail is about two miles long .. its pretty much a straight shot ... depending on the time of year there can be deep mud ...im linking a vid to an average late spring/early summer day with my uncles 2007 jku rubi

it is/was a railroad access/maintinance road ... it overlooks a 4 track set of rails...no rail company truck would be able to make it through the trail 80% of the year (stock height f350 rail riders --- HEAVY and low ... they would just sink ... i dont believe the rail company uses this trail at all any more.

the other trail has a couple of large mud holes and the rest is tight trails (mainly used by quads) ... but there is enough room for a swb jeep on MOST of them

you prbly wouldnt wanna spend a whole day here .. but its definitly good for a 3-4 hour period

hey sorry to go of topic but you wouldnt be interested in a snorkel for your jk would you ???

i was originally going to buy a jk but decided on a tj instead so i have a brandnew snorkel sitting at my wifes house collecting dust. ( i jumped the gun a bit on the purchase )

it is a knock off version of the AEV snorkel .. absolutely identical but instead of saying AEV on the side it say "WRANGLER JK"
