Need any jeep trail near clarkston mi

Hey guys!

I have never been offroading with my jeep. I am in clarkston and I don't need a very long trail. Really anything will do. A two track would be great. I just need somewhere to get my feet wet because I would love to go to Drummond next summer. Anyways if you could give me the location of a trail that'd be great.

Nothing in Oakland County. The closest orv park is The Mounds North of Flint. I just find a dirt road and see where it takes me. Lake George Road is ok. Never gone far enough north to find the end. Check the Michigan forum in this forum. Local clubs post their events. Thumb Jeeps and What Lies Beyond are two clubs I have gone with. Both good groups, family oriented, low key events. I also like Bundy Hill down in the Irish Hills.

There are some scenic, dirt, county roads in the Ortonville State Game area - nothing that requires 4WD but quiet and loose enough that you can at least drop it into 4HI and 4LO to get a feel for the engagement without hurting anything. Plus it's a nice place for a topless drive. Don't get off the roads though, it is not a 4WD play area.

I found one by accident when I was teaching my son to drive his YJ stick. If your familiar with Waterford/Pontiac border. In between the county courthouse and Harbor Freight off Telegraph Rd is a dead end road called Vanguard. There are some trails back there that are used for 4 wheelers , bikes and Jeeps. Nothing fancy but it's fun and 2 minutes from my house. At the dead end you will see two trails leaving the road, don't matter what one you pick. Just FYI if your driving through the area.

I took a little video of it today when I took my kid's Jeep out there.
