I have a stock JKUS also. I've been out to 3-4 trail rides/ORV parks this summer. My Jeep amazes me every time. It can go places I would never go if I hadn't been with a group of experienced off roaders. And, if you get stuck, it's a good story.

stupid tree... I thought it was weird, I was going up through a channel in the side of a hill and kept looking further and further up! Eventually I had to stop and realized my passenger tire caught the tree and drove up it lol.

Oh, and note to self... Even though our Jeeps are similar I have a lot more weight and cannot get through the pete as easy as others can lol. It was trippy looking at my hood being 6 inches above ground level!

Heres the proof!

haha, at the end you can hear me shout "2 jeeps are better than 1" lol

I am down and out for a while, just got a call from Ironman Offroad/Strobel Automotive up in Saginaw. There are only 3 good parts left in my rear D44, and one of them was the pinion yoke. Going to be in the shop for a few days, and going to be a while before I get the wheeling fund rebuilt.

FYI Dale at Ironman/Strobel Automotive is a great guy to work with - a 4 wheeler that plays hard, and has some of the best customer service in the business. Worth the drive to Saginaw.

Pics

Took these this past weekend up around Oscoda along the AuSable River and a bunch of two tracks in the area around Cooke Dam. Can't wait for this weekends tour around the area here in Mayville. Colors are prime! Hoping we don't get a lot of wind throughout the week to keep 'em on the trees!

Very nice. I think things are backwards this year, I am southern lower MI and our trees are WAY more changed than in those. That makes me happy that there will still be colors for the 21st.

What I've seen around here is, last weekend our sugar maples were in their prime. Bright oranges and reds. Some are still changing but its really windy today Im hoping we don't lose them off the trees by this weekend. But, the popples, oaks, ash, hickory, etc... are all changing a lot slower. Some tall oaks are orange and brown dull colors while I've also seen some shorter oak trees change to a blood red in the last week.

Our cruise this weekend will take us on some really large hills overlooking paintings of fall color. As well, we'll drive down through some of the really cool woodsy areas. We'll be in the heart of the woods and a minute later we'll be in the middle of farm country, a couple minutes after that, back into the woods! Its neat how there are strips of forest throughout the fields up here. Its going to be about 80% dirt roads with a little pavement here and there.

Im also curious how many will want to Christmas shop in Frankenmuth -vs- going to Frankenmuth Brewery!!!

This pic here

is an area off the end of a long two track trail we found. About half way to Oscoda from Lumbermans Monument there is a large power station on the River side. One two track runs up next to the power station and the second one shoots off into the woods to the left. That one on the left winds down about a mile or so to a turn around at the end. At that turn around are these stairs that run down to the AuSable river.

I'm thinking sometime this winter we need to do a "Frosty" run when there is at least 12" of snow and this is one of the places we'll stop for a break.

Salmon are running, Trout, Theres Walley in there, Perch, Sunfish, Bass, Crappie, Even some steelhead, etc... Lots of good fish! We have a spot marked on the GPS for fishing about 1 mile up river from where this was taken. But, I think the fishing spot will be relocating to here and I'll bet there won't be people here like there is up by the dams all the time!

I'm not sure when we are leaving from my house yet but the tentitive time we are leaving will be 1045 but I threw the idea at andy and we may meet early(say 9ish) and backroad up to the shop.
