hard top over soft top

I have a 2005 jeep wrangler rubicon with a soft top. I have to pick up a hard top and need to know if I have to remove the soft top and all its hardware to put a hard top on, or can I just lower the soft top and then put a soft top on?

Soft top has to come off to put on the hard top
