Is more than 2.5" lift illegal in MA?

Heard it from Jeep dealer while changing first engine oil at 5,000 miles. Dealer said he does now know how the others pass state inspection but more than 2.5" life is illegal in MA, cannot pass inspection, and recommeded Mopar factory lift up max 2" w/ 33" tires, also said if go more than 2.5", I will loose factory warranty....
Is it true?
if yes, I won't take it for only 33" tires...
Thanks

I would research the subject and never believe what a dealer tells you.

I don't know the law but I can tell you there are jeeps all over mass with lifts over 2 1/2" Trucks too for that matter. I'd say that dealer doesn't get out much. My YJ is only lifted 2" but I have friends that have them lifted a lot more than that.

Technical yes. If you look up the mass law it is 2"of lift allowed but 4x4 there is a formula if you do the formula out for a jeep it comes out to just about 2". However most inspection stations think the law makes no sense or they don't know it that is why you see the larger lifted vehicles. The guy here in paxton who does inspections informed me on this law when i asked if he could help with my lift.
