want to go off road

So I live in attleboro and my buddy lives in franklin I am getting the jeep fever and want to go on a local trail ride. My problem is I don't know where to go with my stock tj and my friend stock cherokee. If any one wants to set something up that is close and knows some trails around here that would be sweet.

Hey dude. I am from Franklin, but have no Jeep. I used to ride my dirt bike behind Home Depot and Wal-Mart in Bellingham. Scope out Google Earth you should be able to see trails. Never really had a problem with dirt bikes; just try not to don't draw too much attention to yourselves in Jeeps.

Dunno, that's why I said try to not attract attention, meaning, try not to get there through the parking lots.

I am also from Mass and was wondering about where to go, I also read on a thread that is illegal to off road in MA, so I did a quick research on the subject. Below is the website I went to along with a couple of copy and pastes from that site, I hope it helps. Or like RubiconRich says, "stay out of trouble, join a club" I also think riding behind the HD is not a good idea

Department of Conservation and Recreation

Vehicle (ORV) Defined
Also known as Off Highway Vehicle (OHV), ORV’s are any motor vehicle designed or modified for use over unimproved terrain if used for recreation or pleasure off a public way and all legally registered motor vehicles when used off a way. Vehicles over 1000 lbs. such as pickup trucks or SUVs are prohibited from all trails at all times.

Registration
All ORVs must be currently registered in Massachusetts under MGL c. 90B. New Massachusetts Recreation Vehicle Laws require the display of registration on the left and right side of the vehicle. Additionally, motor vehicles registered under chapter 90 must now also register as a recreation vehicle under chapter 90B (on/off road motorcycles, Jeeps, etc.) when used for recreation or pleasure once they leave a public way as defined in chapter 90. Out of state recreation vehicle registrations are not valid in Massachusetts. Contact the Division of Environmental Law Enforcement for registration information: (617)626-1610 or www.mass.gov/dfwele/dle/elereg.htm

I deem that BS. and had a state tropper review it.If you are driving a unmaintained road that is not in a state forest you are ok. You can not drive on a trail in a stateforest due to the 1,000 lb rule.So if you drive a town unmaintaned road you are ok and don't need this sticker.

There are plenty of areas around to go off roaming. As long as you stay out of posted areas and private property you are ok. I actually spoke to a property owner where j live. He owns almost 300 acres and gave me written permission to go out on his land. He listed the areas he wanted me to stay away from. I have been approached by the Enviromentals, showed them the note and they were ok.
