I had this problem

The radio was an aftermarket Sony. Occasionally this would happen. Then a couple weeks ago I hit a bump it went out hit another bump it came on hit another bump and that was it. I had it checked and they told me the radio was dead. Hence I replaced it with an inexpensive Pioneer.
