Porter rd itself is a bust. Only goes few thousand feet then ends at private property sign. The trails off it are tons of fun. They are also marked trails but not sure where they go. Shenipsit forest rd is blocked off at both ends as is porter off Webster. Anyone know bout the trails off porter? They go forever and get better and better. Saw someone in a orange jk on porter said rides his quad in there but not his jeep.

I checked it out tonight. Pretty cool! I didn't go far because I have never taken this Jeep off road and would like to do it with some others in case I get stuck. Would like to explore more if you go again.

I guess about 1/2 mile. It was dark and I saw a place to turn around and was afraid if I went farther I may not be able to turn around. I would like to try it in the daylight.

I'm guessing it was that big area where u can go left or right. Left keeps you on porter and right goes up a hill I believe. It's almost like a culdasac.

I don't think I made it that far. When I turned there was a trail over a large incline on my left.

If either of you are going out this weekend to explore more and want company, let me know. I'm always up for some adventure.

Not lately, I am afraid with a stock Jeep and all the snow and rain. Would love to find something easy just for a day trip.

There is a really short couple mile long dirt road in somers about 5 mins from porter that is good for stock. I've been going there for 10yrs. I've even brought my brand new ram1500 in there. It's just a long straight dirt road with tons of mud. Road get washed out with rain and snow. Huge huge puddles. Ruts get real deep and the sides of the road get supper muddy. Bunch of trails off the sides of the road as well.

Cruised from Porter to Hopkins a couple days ago. Not too bad but a little icy in spots.

there's a side trail on porter that will bring you out there also if you sneak past the pond you can pop out in the state forest. not fun to get out of there. never gone straight through porter though since they closed the road.

Green Road can get sloppy and full of ruts this time of year until the town comes thru and grades the road (they usually do that in early summer)....but I would not advise going off Green Road on either side, the owner of that land gets pretty ticked off if he sees a motorized anything on his land. If you see a red Chevy pickup truck pulled over to the side, that is usually his look-out.
