I've had my jeep 2 weeks legit haha so I'm wondering if there's good beginner trails so I can get her off the asphalt.. I don't want like a paved road with winds and turns.. Want a little off road action... Just trying to see what my darla can handle. In Connecticut obviously!
I've heard of (but haven't done myself) some trails up north here around Ellington/Somers, and also around Torrington. As for near Milford, I'm not too sure unless you go towards New York. I would keep tabs on the meetup thread in here and get to the next one, should be this month.
Like jeepinjew said not sure about Milford but over here in somers, ellington, and stafford there are many dirt roads and dead end dirt roads that get pretty muddy. Actually went down a short dead end muddy road in somers yesterday when I got bored.
There is nothing anywhere near Milford unless your planning on getting a heavy trespassing ticket at minimum. There are legal unmaintained roads up in voluntown near the moheagan sun

Pearmain Road in Shelton... 1/2 developed, the other half is not-maintained and cuts through to Saw Mill City which is semi / not really maintained. Pretty decent. Haven't been in the past 6 months but a great starter trail. 20 min ride from Milford
Nepaug in New Hartford is maintained by the MDC. If the gates are open you can ride in there. Have to be careful of dog walkers, hikers and bikers.
Right now it is closed, it may open with fishing season as it provides access to the Farmington River in Canton.
2002 Wrangler All original ~ Like it that way.... For now!
