Let's get this going Jeepers..Come one come all to a Jeep Fall meet and greet..Fall Camping at it's best at Water's Edge Campground October 5th through 7th.
Bring your pets, bring your families, and of course bring your JEEPS!

The Specifics:
Place: Water's Edge Campround in Lebanon, CT. (approx 40 minutes Southeast of Hartford)
Water's Edge Family Campground - One of Connecticut's premier campgrounds
Time: Anytime during the weekend...Stay all weekend and camp, or even come for a day visit..makes no difference, just COME!
Costs: Brian (campground owner and good friend) has extended the following offer: 2 Tents can split a site for 40/night..Which basically means its 20/per night for you and your tent/guest. The sites are PLENTY big enough to accomodate 2 tents..There is water and electric at each site. Dont worry, we can figure out splitting the campsite tents together once you get there...no need to stress over 'who's camping next to who'..

If you have a camper or prefer to rent a park model trailer or cabin, then regular rates apply. (I will be in a popup camper)

Note: If you are a daily visitor..THERE IS A CHARGE. All campgrounds do this..You must register at the gate and pay the fee. It is what it is..remember these campgrounds are a business like anything else. Refer to the above link.

We will be in the Safari area. (There are showers and bathrooms there as well as a very large covered pavilion and 2 large fire rings. The showers and bathrooms are kept extremely clean)
See the upper right portion of the bottom map on this page:
Site Map & Area Map for Water's Edge Campground

More Details...
Things to possibly do...Shoot your ideas over..
Good fishing lake (catch and release)..You can bring non-motorized boats/kayaks, Of course Caveman TV, adult beverages, Casinos are not far away...open to any and all suggestions..I will be recruiting (read:begging) my wife to make Chili for us on Sat nite. Its gooood :)
So as we breath life into this event, I will add to this first post on the details and attendees...

PLEASE Do NOT plan on tearing up the campground looking for things to run over with your Jeep. Brian is a good friend and the campground is a very friendly and safe place to be. Lets keep it that way for everyone.

Questions or any other specifics I may have missed, just post em up..

Attendee list:
Me (Todd), wife Michele and at least our 14yr old daughter Emily.

LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS GANG AND MEETING EVERYONE!

I have to check my planning (work achedule) but I believe I'm free that weekend.

We could do a pot luck type deal on the first day. Everyone brings a different dish or something along those lines?
Not a bad idear...let's see what kind of numbers we get..

Could also do a simultaneous pizza & beer run as well on Friday evening and keep it simple..(whether we eat out or bring it back, makes no difference to me)

Just let me know if you are in so I can do a head count...
trying to get a sense of how much to chili ingrediants to buy for Sat dinner.

Oct 5-7 is good for me I would like to attend....Saturday the 6th is best, do I have to camp out overnite?

#11 ·
Mark yes you have to camp out overnite! (KIDDING!;))

No just show up and hang out on Sat if thats your preference..
2 things to keep in mind though:..
1. The CG does have nice park models and cabins available for rental if you'd like to stay the weekend and are just not into tenting...(call the campground directly to reserve..not sure what the cost is)
2. Keep in mind the visitor fee...(just so you are not surprised) I will collect that for Brian on Saturday just to keep it simple..

I'm definitely in, and with a possible +1. Depends if I can convince the wife to join me, otherwise, may have to bring my carpool lane buddy.
Sounds good...convince the wife!
Tell her we want her there..Mine will be there and she needs a wingman to make fun of us with..:)

Bring the car pool lane buddy too! Can be JeepConn1's mascot ;-)

So what are we looking at for a count so far? Just a thought, but perhaps we could put a feeler out there in the MA forum too since its not too far for them either.
Yup already done, I put a link up there in the MA regional forum as well as RI. (This place is closer to RI)

As far as turnout, my expectation was somewhere between 5 and 10 of us. First year these things start slow...Possibely as the weekend gets closer, maybe more...

So here's what I get from all the posts...Gang feel free to confirm or deny

So far, 6 or 7 Jeeps, 9 or 10 peeps

Me, wife and daughter
Brad (09 Sahara)
Cavemen and maybe +1

Uhhh, ummmm, yea...that sounds uhhhh, ummmm...torturous? ;) I grew up in Colchester, my grandparents owned a cottage on the lake so I spent my summers there. I miss it.

I really want to get a fender chopping party going when my new Jeep gets in. Maybe we can all get together then, even if you don't want to chop. I know Ken's in!

:nonono::nonono::nonono: My favorite camping weekend of the year at my favorite campground ever!
Chop party ......, mmmmmmmm

Not sure. I was planning on waiting and saving $ till Christmas time cuz I'm gonna sleeve & gusset at the same time & they'll need it for a couple days and I can't live without a vehicle. But really I have a feeling I'll be calling my mom next week asking if I can borrow her car and like 3k.

But then I'll be looking all silly with my 33's and 3.5 lift and chopped fenders because I need to save even more for my 35's. But with 35's I'll need a new bumper and tire carrier. And brake relocation bracket. And I can't decide what tires, I like my Duratracs but they don't make a 35 in a 15 so I might either get new wheels & the D's or go with the MTRs in a 15 and, and, and...

I'm also sure I'll go back and forth about doing the lift myself and having it done 100 more times between now and then too. So really, I don't friggin know. It's tough to be in my head. :surrender: Glad you asked?

Of course then there is always the chance I hate the color and just stick with my current Jeep. That would be so much easier!

Jay-----sus lol

I talked to DT and they said I need to have a static balance done with only weight on the inside.
But .... If I were to do it again, I would have gone with a 16" rim.

You are just mounting the 33's for now correct ?
Nope - taking my current wheels and tire just as they are. So who can do a static balance??

#38 ·
Hahaha! Of course they did. Well I'd say they can disagree all they want IF they can balance your tires properly!

I'm having the dealership take my tires/wheels off the sport and put them on the new Rubi. The sport will then go to the dealership with the Rubi tires/wheels. I haven't told them yet that they need to swap out the TMPS' - but they should know that they run at different frequencies and assume they'd have to do it. Not my problem as far as I'm concerned - they're getting brand new Rubi tires/wheels for nothing, right?! :D

Guys,
given what looks like the negative forecast and the low interest, I've decided we are going to put this off until the Spring..

Cave -sent you a PM, still email me..
and I spoke with Brad offline as well...

Sorry gang..I Tried...We will come back around and revisit when the campground opens in the springtime...
