Lots of noise in the CT forum as of late, exciting! Everyone seems wicked interested in a club/meet ups, and maybe this will get someone to take the initiative. Let's get some opinions..

1. What type of place would you like to meet up at? The same for every meet, or different every time?

2. How often would you like to meet? Weekly, monthly..

3. Wranglers only? All jeeps? All off road vehicles? Personally, I love all off road vehicles, BUT the more open of a meet it is, the less you may learn about your vehicle specifically.

4. What area of CT works best for you?

5... I don't know. Come up with more questions, I'll add them here.

Let's get some consensus, and maybe get this thing off the ground!

I think a once a month meet would be great like every second sat or something like that . Also let's move it around I think theirs some land owners out their that we could pay if we all chip in . The more the merrier if it has the word Jeep it's in we could host a swoop meet and camping and just enjoy hanging with us Jeepers . Theirs my two cents PS we could come up with some cool contest like get the top on , hang the doors ,tire push in mud and plenty more good fun ideas

1. What type of place would you like to meet up at? The same for every meet, or different every time?

I think that we should have a central meeting place for general meets. As far a venue some thing that has a large parking lot and is relatively easy to find.

2. How often would you like to meet? Weekly, monthly..

I agree with dude33 on this matter, the once a month every second sat system is easy and simple.

3. Wranglers only? All jeeps? All off road vehicles? Personally, I love all off road vehicles, BUT the more open of a meet it is, the less you may learn about your vehicle specifically.

Here I think that we should start with Wranglers then maybe move it to Jeeps in general.

4. What area of CT works best for you?

It dosen't matter as long as I'm not driving to Mass or RI

My ideas:

1. What type of place would you like to meet up at? The same for every meet, or different every time?

Agreed on the large parking lot - That limits us to a mall type location (Evergreen Walk, Buckland, Westfarms, Outlet Malls, etc.) as those will have the largest parking lots for the multiple stores. I don't know CT very well, but the 3 I mentioned are the only place I know in the Hartford area.

2. How often would you like to meet? Weekly, monthly..

I like the idea of bi-monthly. An easy system would bet he Saturday following the 1st and 15th of every month at the designated location(s)

3. Wranglers only? All jeeps? All off road vehicles? Personally, I love all off road vehicles, BUT the more open of a meet it is, the less you may learn about your vehicle specifically.

As a former Compass owner I would encourage all Jeeps - you never know who might be a future Wrangler owner. As for other offroaders, if they want to, why not?

4. What area of CT works best for you?

Probably anywhere north of Middletown

5... I don't know. Come up with more questions, I'll add them here.

If we do bi-monthly it might be easier to rotate between 2 locations too. Say first at East of the river, 2nd West of the river, or something like that.

Back on location for a second, I think location could also depend on day/time of meet. Say for example we choose a weekday at 6ish, then a large enough parking lot with food. If we do a weekend day in the middle of the afternoon a restaurant wouldn't necessarily be required.

Big parking lots commuter lots? Not sure on the rules/laws on that but west farms, outlets.

2. How often would you like to meet? Weekly, monthly..

Honestly all the time twice a month sounds decent though!

3. Wranglers only? All jeeps? All off road vehicles? Personally, I love all off road vehicles, BUT the more open of a meet it is, the less you may learn about your vehicle specifically

All, I'd love to get more knowledge on every jeep out there!

4. What area of CT works best for you?

I'm in Middletown, so ill jeep wherever.

Meeting in a state park for grilling and such would definitely work may-sept, something that can be discussed as the group starts meeting. We should probably start with a relatively simple schedule so spreading the word is easy. I also like the idea of every 3months doing a Jeepin trip as Tjag mentioned.

As the 15th is coming up next week, why don't we start planning something for Sunday the 20th? I'll just throw out the shopping plaza with Chipotle in Glastonbury, on Glastonbury Blvd? Whenever I've been there there's always been plenty of parking behind the Starbucks there, and if not there's office buildings all around with no one on the weekends. Say 1pm?

Salmon river sounds like a great idea!

Hey guys!

It's been awhile since I've been on last.
Not to long ago I tried to get a bunch of us together to start a club here in CT. At that point there wasn't a lot of noise on the forum.

It's nice to see this much noise.
Here's my two cents on the whole topic. It has worked in the past with other non-jeep organizations, groups and clubs I've been part of.

1. What type of place would you like to meet up at? The same for every meet, or different every time?

Different locations every time. We have to keep in mind that some members of the group will be located in places like Norwalk and New Hartford. Not exactly centralized. Yes it will suck for some of us who will have to drive farther some of the time but look on the bright side, you're in your jeep cruisin!

2. How often would you like to meet? Weekly, monthly..

I think that monthly general meetings for the leaders, officers, of the club and anyone else who can or would like to come would be ideal. This way we can discuss future gatherings and all that happy jazz!

Every three months have a trip somewhere or some kind of gathering that would be directed solely at wheeling! Whether it be a cookout at a local state park or just going to the beach or working on the jeeps at someone's house.

3. Wranglers only? All jeeps? All off road vehicles? Personally, I love all off road vehicles, BUT the more open of a meet it is, the less you may learn about your vehicle specifically.

I feel like starting out keeping it to wranglers or forum members for the first few months would be wise. With more members comes more input, which isn't always a bad thing. However when getting up and off the ground everyone has their own idea of the perfect club and its easier to sift through the ideas if the group is kept small.

4. What area of CT works best for you?

See point one.
I work in Norwalk and live in Middletown. I just recently moved back to Middletown after a year in Norwalk.

Extra point:

We should keep the club democratic where majority rules. This keeps the majority of the people in the group happy and coming back.

Okay. I love all of these ideas. I really don't want to take the reigns on this, because I've only been a Jeeper for 2 years now, don't know much, my rig is nothing special, no hook ups for land use, etc. I'm thinking someone with experience would be awesome for heading this thing. We should all agree to a meeting to discuss meetings (that sounds so anal) but I feel like until we get together, this is all just going to fade out. So maybe meet up somewhere semi quiet so we can all hear each others ideas... Get some kind of list going.. Who has hook ups for what, ideas for ideal meet ups, pick someone to lead the way, whatever. I think ideally it'd be something on a weekend.. Maybe a low key bar, or a dunkin donuts or something?
