Dave,
Sorry to see that (wake/funeral).
And that trail looks good. Maybe we can schedule another Saturday run in the next few weeks.

Thanks everyone.

I'm so far so good for next Sunday.

That trail I posted a picture of is the entrance to Ma Bell.

Check out some of the YouTube videos for Ma Bell - very interesting.

Was an old Massachusetts bell telephone road.
Pretty intense looking.

I hope you don't mind a florida guy chiming in, but those are some great pics. Makes me miss home, I grew up in mystic, high school in Salisbury, and college at trinity. I need to find an excuse to drive up to visit my folks and go do a little wheeling.

I've done MaBell before and it is as intense as you want to make it.

There are some bypasses for some of the obstacles but not all of them are "legal" and I have heard that the neighbors are sensitive to abuse of the trail.

I believe that there is also a pond area about midway through that has special considerations - don't remember all the details. There is also a limit as to how far in you are supposed to go - I think not past the obstacle known as "Committed" - a pretty steep rock face.

Best thing to do if you want to go and tread lightly and keep the neighbors happy and the trail open is to seek info on the trail from someone who can give you all the details on this stuff. Some of it can be found on the web.

The day I went we had one Rubicon slice the sidewall of a tire wide open and a CJ break a front spring resulting in the axle moving back and the front DS being shoved through the TC and splitting it wide open.

I'd be happy to except I really don't know the trail well enough to know which bypasses are OK and which are not. You may be able to find everything you need to know just by Googling and reading up on what you find, or maybe asking on the MA forum.

I only mentioned this stuff because I wanted to give you guys a heads up in case you went.

It's a fun and challenging trail for sure.

It's going to be a hard trail but I'm up for it.

We might be interested in going too. Just got into it and have done the local trail, Hampden power lines, a couple times. Looking for some new places, but definitely don't want to go out alone.

You might like Porter Road. I'd do that first and get some experience before ever going anywhere near Ma Bell.

I google mapped porter rd. Is it a pretty straight forward trail? Easy to follow or get lost? My husband is the driver, I'm the nervous one. We have a friend that's been off roading for years. He's slowly getting us into it

And porter rd is as fun as you want to make it. We went as a group last time and each hit paths we were comfortable with.

I think where we met last time at the Cumbies was perfect. Quick meet and greet, fill up on snacks, top off gas, empty the"tank" if you know what I mean. LOL

I'll see if I can get a couple more.

If any one is interested, some of us from here started a club in the area. Send me a pm and I can invite you to the Facebook page. We are having a meeting Sunday at 1pm not too far from Porter Road.
