So I didn't take too many pictures, mostly just reference photos for when I went to reassemble the bike I wouldn't be like now where did this go... Although I do have one left over part that I can't figure out where it goes for the life of me... Everything seems to be back together and working.
Just some pics here for those that are interested:
1) The stripped down frame. I know I could have gone farther, but I didn't really need to. This was when I was washing and degreasing the frame from all the oil leaking from the motor.
2) My new wheels. The old tires were hardcore dirtbike tires, and one of them even said right on the tire "not for highway use". The blue tape was just a reference for when I took the tires in to be changed as they are directional tires and were off the bike when I brought them in.
3) Disassembled front forks (or shocks). The bright chrome tubes should be stright... These weren't but I found some that were. All put back together and the wheel isn't tilted to the right anymore, its almost stright! I think the triple tree might be bent a little bit, but thats a project for another year...
4) The engine with the right side case off. In the bottom left of the case, you can see a shaft sticking out (for the kick start), and just below that to the right in the dark blurry area is the shifter fork (what actually changes the gears on the bike). It should have been centered on the gear its supposed to mesh with, but while we were cleaning the case mating surface, we laid the engine on its side, which pushed the shaft through and popped the fork off. When we first reassembled it, we didn't put the fork back where it was supposed to be, so I could only shift between first and neutral. Pulled the side case back off, put it where it was supposed to be and Now I have all my gears again.
5) A picture of most of the new parts I put on. I was still waiting on some seals and gaskets at that point but it captured most of the stuff:
Amsoil motor oil
Amsoil Fork oil
New oil filter
New clutch cable
New Stainless Steel brake line
New Fork Seals
New (they are called) Shock absorbers, hub. basically rubber spacers between the moutn for the rear drive gear and the rear wheel
New rear axel (chain) tensioners
New measuring device for the fork oil
New Spark Plug
New brake pads for the front (did the rears last year)
New rear drive gear
New front drive gear
New o-ring chain
New front wheel bearings
And new oil seals for everything that sticks out of the case: kick starter, clutch shaft, drive shaft, shifter.
And probably a few other things I'm not thinking of right now.
All in all I'm just glad to be done and I can't wait for the nice weather to return... I'm still a newbie rider and the tire manufacturer recomends taking it real easy for the first hundred miles or so to wear in the tires or get rid of the "slick" outer protective coating. So I realllllllly don't want to go out till the roads are nice and dry.
