Reputable transportation company?

Hey guys,

The old man and I just bought a 1969 GTO from a gentleman down in Danbury, CT. We live in Stafford Springs, and cannot drive the car home. The fenders and hood are MIA and the brake system is currently inoperable. We received a quote of 193.00 from Unitedroad.com. However, I'm not really sur ehow their service works.

Does anyone have experience with any transportation companies here in CT?

We are also looking for a good shop for a paint job.

Thanks a lot

Will a 20' uhaul trailer be capable of putting the goat inside of it? The gto weighs about 3400 lbs and needs to be secured inside of it..

Yes but they say max wheelbase of 133 inches, and the GTO is 17 feet long. I believe the wheelbase is more than 133

What about picking her up by the ass end, and letting her front wheels stay down on the road? I thought U-Haul rented rigs like that as well. I have my 'Cuda moved around all the time up in Windsor by a real good firm...they take super good care of her....Fox Hill Towing is the name....see what they would want to flat bed her. Number is 860-668-0086.

I was looking into this and its about 80 +/- miles and about an hour and a half away. I dont know how that company is making money, its about $80 in fuel alone for a flatbed and the salary for the driver. Being in the tow business, be prepared to pay $300-$400. Towing isnt cheap anymore like it used to be. A tow like that is approx $60 hookup and $4 a mile. Or you can get an AAA Plus membership and not pay anything but the membership fee. and you'll have free road service for a year

Trailer Depot in Northford rents trailers. It is a little further from you, but you could pick it up on your way to get the car.

Yeah I can't imagine what they'd want to drive from enfield to danbury to stafford back to enfield. Can't be cheap. Since it's about 80 miles I'd need to get the rv/plus plan from triple a. Is it just one price for the year? 107.00? And will they tow a car to some place other than a repair shop? I don't think they'd be happy if I said I need my car towed from Danbury to Stafford haha

All wheels have to be off the road if it's not registered, licensed and insured. AAA knows the game and has a waiting period, I think it's 10 days after you join, before you can tow anything, and even then, anything AAA tows has to be current on registration and insurance. Don't get me wrong, some drivers don't care, but some do.

We had my buddy haul it with his 2500HD Silverado and car trailer. Got it home last night. Now I have two projects on my hands...
