Yea, thats what I can't do. If I could do that part I'd do it all myself!

Well if another member or two want to do it I will be more than happy to help strip the interior. It doesn't take many tools (just hand tools). The hardest part is the sanding. It is tedious, but not actually difficult to do.

Depending when you do it, I wouldn't mind helping!! ... But I'm still in a sling recovering from 2 surgeries...

Ladies and gentlemen of the CT forum...I am happy to announce the hardtop has come off my Jeep this past weekend!!

I'm so happy!! You guys were right, it wasn't bad taking it off and putting the soft top on. It was the first time I've ever driven with it down and it was awesome. Let's hope this nice weather continues! And thank you again for everyone who offered to help me out, I really appreciated it! Hope to see you all at the meet on Saturday

You know you drive a TJ when you have the parts for the mod, the right tools for the job, a BFH & still need a Sawzall to get the job done!

I'm looking at early - mid april. Lots of parts that are hard to find and expensive to get. For a bike that was only made for 3 years in the 80's and in limited quantities I'm supprised at all the parts I can still get... but there are still a lot that have been discontinued.

I've got a few more things to tear apart before I place my last (hopefully) parts order, and I'm waiting until my credit card rolls into the billing cycle to place an Amsoil order, in which I am including their fork oil to try.

Wow, an 80's bike. I had to go back & look @ pics again. Couldn't figure out make/model but it looks in pretty good shape. Good luck!

This was it when I first got it. My friend was using it as a dirt bike, but he had a title for it, so I added lights and registered it. If you notice the knobby tires, they are not the best for riding on the street, which is why I got some nice dual sport tires. From there it was since I have to remove X to get the tires off, I'll fix/upgrade Y, and if I want to fix/upgrade Z later, I have to remove X and Y... Hence, its a stripped frame except for the wiring harness, handlebar assembly, and rear suspension... None of which I can really do anything about.

Its an 85 SP250. The SP250s were the street version of the DR250s. and 85 was the only year with disk brakes in the front... Woo Hoo!

I like it & I did notice the tires, ...I had several bikes. I loved my 125 Harley Dav dirt bike (don't know the year but this was in the late 70's), ran w/guys on 250 Yamaha's..never stood a chance Rear sprocket was "huge", could climb anything put in front of me just not very fast out of the pocket

Yup, my gears look like the waves at the ocean, and I was hoping to pick up a little top end (it runs out of go at 60 right now). Apperently at some point in its life, someone put smaller tires and lower gearing on it (14 Front, 42 Rear... should be 15/42). So I'm at least going back to the stock gearing and we'll see how that goes...

^^Just saw the weather for this weekend & now were looking @ rain on both Sat & Sun.

Might have to put the top (& doors for me) back on before then. I was hoping to leave all off for the meet & greet on Sat but now, idk.

Seems like a cruel joke. Gorgeous and warm every day while I'm stuck in a windowless office and now it's going to be cool and crappy!

My bike is all back together!!! Only needed one small re-adjustment after the first reassembly... More in another thread...
