Why do you feel that you need a snorkel? How deep is the water you're going to cross?
IMO they're a waste of money. A snorkel on a stock Jeep looks silly.

Depends on the snorkel.

If you are going to play in the mud, or drive through a bad thunderstorm, you open yourself up to hydrolocking your engine.

River Raider makes a nice snorkel for the 2012. It doesn't look like the AEVs. JustJeepGear.com even has a layaway plan, which is nice.

I just want to play it safe. Half the time I can't tell how deep the muddy waters are. Beside I'm looking for the one with the filter outside. Kinda looks like a clear bowl...helps keep the water out. But I'm open to anyone's opinion .....

I think you are talking about the Donaldson pre-filter. Might be wrong about the name. You can buy those after market. They fit on the AEV and River Raider. The pre-filter will help you out the most when you are on a dust bowl run.

If you are that concerned about air quality, have you purchased a K&N drop in yet? Available through most vendors and Amazon.

I'd extend vent lines and start waterproofing harness' in your engine compartment first. The factory "snorkel" is good for what at about the hood line if you have the horn vertical

Hey, it's Christian..I think you left me a msg. If it's you Walter, I did call you back..but yes, I can try and help you out or point you in the right direction. AEV has not released theirs yet for the 2012's, which is unfortunate, cause we're almost into another model year that they are missing out on. River Raider does have one for the '12's and yes, we can get you into one. Thanks, Christian
