Allamuchy mountain state park

I was mountain biking in Allamuchy park today. While I was there I saw three different built up jeeps on the road near the park. I didn't think you could off road at Allamuchy. Is there a place near by people go?

Heya! I try to bike there a couple times a month in the summer; there's an excellent descent off the north side of "rolly polly" (up cardiac/ditch, and 2nd left once it levels off heading towards 80).

I think people are just using their jeeps as bike carriers there, but i HAVE passed what looks like a fire road or logging road about 1/4 mile down that dirt road. It's on your right, if you're heading from the park entrance down towards the bar/tavern. I just got my jeep this year, and haven't been up there to check it out yet.

Great if you like the northeast flavor. Horrible if you're expecting Moab. Allamuchy north in particular though is pretty poorly marked, and the state parks trail map only loosely resembles what's up there. Luckily, it's not that large of an area so you can't get lost for more than a couple hours.

Hooo Boy were the mosquitoes out in force today. Every time i stopped to breath (Cardiac/Ditch trail is a beast) a cloud of the little bastards coalesced on me. Seemed strange considering how dry the trails were, but i guess there are still pools somewhere from Friday's storm.

I also cleared all the spider webs off Orange, Purple, and White lines. With my face.
