Help - need a mechanic

I have a decently built Jeep and need a trustworthy/knowledgable Jeep mechanic - for maintenance.

I'm in north Jersey but willing to travel a reasonable distance (central).

nothing
....just need someone to check it periodically: belts, hoses, tighten up the bolts, identify anything that doesn't look "right" ..........and someone to go to if/when a problem arises

Honestly I look at owning a Jeep like a race car. Learn all you can and do as much as you can yourself. If you really look at what labor costs you can afford tools and manuals. Plus a lot of places have rental tools.

If you don't have time or don't feel comfortable then just get reviews of local shops and go from there.

Reason I say doing on your own, my father in law has a chevy always goes to the dealership for everything. Charged him $400 for a new O2 sensor and some fuel injector cleaner. The sensor costs $95 printed on his ticket.

if you need any help just ask ,i'm positive you can fix most of these small problems yourself ,they're are plenty of women mechanics out there who do great work . but if its something maybe you would like to learn how to fix yourself i'd be glad to help . i live in parlin. scott

...been on vacation, thanks for the responses. (and the offer, Scott)
1. I don't want to work to crawl under my Jeep
2. it's been modified to the point where I would't trust pepboys/dealer,etc
3. I didn't want to go all the way to Stewartsville but looks like that's were I'm headed
....I hope Jim remembers me - lol

Where you located at? Me and my club constantly work on rigs and such. Depending on the job we can do most of the work.

This sounds like the common Asinine Jerseyean response!

I was looking for the same thing, but because I'm having headaches with mine and can't seem to find a reputable or knowledgeable mechanic in my area.

I do some work on the side but I deeply discount fellow jeepers and I look past modded jeeps for warranty concerns wen I can.yes I will admit the dealer is a little higher priced but your getting certified factory techs and mopar parts. I will match any competitors prices so gimme a shout if u need anything! Im deff not here to drum up buisnes lol im busy enough jus tryin to help out brother and sister jeepers!

Coming in a bit late on this, but try Black Diamond Garage on Rt. 46 Eastbound in Parsippany. - Behind a bedding store, shares the building with a U-Haul agency.

Conscientious, competent, and honest.

AND THANKS for the heads up PeteH. i had some shimming in the steering wheels at around 65 MPH finally had it taken care of ( bad balancing) BUT would like to get the suspension looked over again to see if anything was damaged due to the past 3 months driving with a decently bad shimmy??
