Island Beach St Pk.

I'm heading there this Sunday. I'm going to get my permit and start fishing!

They're giving them out. You can get the permit at the Park office. About 50% of the park is re-opened.

There is no Park Office, it was swept away by Sandy.

Starting today, 4/12/13 expanded areas of Island Beach State Park will reopen, including access trails and parking lots at A-2, A-3, A-4, A-5 and A-6. Since January 25, only the popular Ocean Bathing Area 1 and Gillikin?s Road had been open for walking, sport fishing and four-wheel driving.

Visitors with 2012 and 2013 mobile sport fishing permits will now be authorized to utilize Gillikin?s Road south to the A-7 access point.

I was there last month went to volunteer some time on dune rebuilding.

The Reed?s Road parking area at the northern end of the park is also reopened, allowing fishermen on foot to access the beach through the maintenance trail.

Beach Buggy permit forms are available on line.

Haven't been down there since about the beginning of March. It was in pretty rough shape. From people I've talked to it's a lot better now.
If interested, Sandy Hook is reopening May 1st. Can't wheel on the beach but it's pretty good for surf fishing. Then again, if you're there at the right time, it's pretty good. I guess the same can be said for IBSP, if you're there at the right time it's pretty good. You can get skunked anywhere.
