Rausch creek has free camping I think and trails to keep you busy all weekend. I'd be surprised if they didnt already have a Memorial Day event

Nice to see how well it shreds, regardless of which eng.

Who wants to throw out a date? A day trip date for another Sunday?

I like 5/5. But I'm a newb. We need someone with experience there to jump on board.

Any takers?

I hear you. We should still go but hit different trails. But let's go in May.

What is going on with these booby traps? Could you explain? Are they harmful to people or Jeeps?

Our group got at least 2 flats confirmed from 3-4" screws they picked up in a hole last time out. Likely from someone who drilled them thru a board and put it in the bottom of a puddle to ruin our day. We had a third jeep who had a flat the following day. Likely related but not sure. I've heard similar stories of things like this happening in the past.

See earlier a little in the thread. I asked the same question. Someone made a valid point on how these roads are used for firefighting too.

I wish the tree f@cking wackos understood this.

If we give in and stay home, then the eco-terrorists win. Hit the trails. Do it in numbers.

And if you come across one of these scumbags laying his traps, keep the aftermath a secret...........

I got to be honest. At 500$ a tire I will stay up north jersey and ride illegal nj land. I don't know if puddles are booby trapped or not. I rode that same path with ppl and didn't get a flat and so did other ppl. But as long as the possibility is there that this could happen I'm going to stay away from the south. I would rather take my chance with a park ranger then plugging my tires.

Hmmm, this sounds like a numbers game to me. How much is a ticket for illegal off roading?!

I'm central NJ so I'm down for wherever.

It varies depending on where you are and how much of an ass the cop/ranger feels like being that day. And if they decide to peg you for anything else while they have you (fenders not covering the tires, no lift inspection, etc.). Couple guys I know got a $120 ticket for romping around in an 'unnamed' marshland.

There are places to camp right in Wharton state forest, and as far as the booby traps, one guy got 2 screws in his tire, someone else had the bead come off the rim, and I woke up the next morning with a flat, I had a small hole in the tire, unsure of what caused it.

At 500 bucks a tire for some, sounds like the illegal off roading is the better bet!

I'd say so. But I'm not sure if they have a strike system in place. Might get more pricey if that's true.

I will be driving, but the other vehicle. It has a DVD player and is a little more comfortable for some. Wink.

Rausch is starting to sound very promising. Since it is six weeks away from Memoria Day weekend, who thinks is up to the trip?

I'd be down for Rausch. I'm getting my Jeep lifted within a week or so so I'll be itching to brake her in.

Teraflex 2.5" Performance Lift with shocks. Got 5 Mickey Thompson Sidebiter wheels sitting in my basement waiting for the 35" duratracts from discount tire direct. I'm getting twitchy waiting for this stuff to come in.
