It was a great weekend.

I'm out for this weekend. I'm hitting Island Beach again. Going straight from work Saturday afternoon and staying over at the Island Beach Motor Lodge.

Are they allowing vehicles yet?

Seems kind of steep for a ride on the beach! Anyone with experience there know how rigorously they enforce the passes? I'm guessing it may be a fatty summons if one is caught without a pass.

Who's been there that knows the lay of the land?

It's worth the price...

Your fees go to cover the work they put in to keep the beach accessible to all of us. They spend the money planting dune grass and installing things like air compressors, bathrooms, and the like... Not to mention all the hard work they put in to getting it back to normal after sandy riddled the beach with garbage. Don't cheap out on it...

And to answer the question: I'm not sure of the fine for not having a pass...but i have been stopped and checked before. They have a few rangers patrolling the beach on a normal day. I've been going there with my family since '89 (I was 2) and go there myself now that I have the jeep.

Well said.

And it's not for driving on the beach. It's for fishing access via your 4x4. The fee is no big deal as I want to fish, and I love Island Beach.

Ok, I do see the reasoning behind your answers. You are all correct. Unfortunately, for a state with a high cost of everything, it lead me to lament the cost of the beach access. The annual pass is a pretty good value tho so ill probably look into that.

Nah. If it were Guido style, it'd be a Monte SS or IROC. Or maybe a Mustang GT.

Stopped up at Stokes this evening for the first time. The rangers office wasn't helpful so we just made it up as we went. Some pretty decent puddles after all the rain.

Lol ur lucky. There is a puddle or 2 that will eat up a stock jeep. N yea the rangers themselves r not helpful but the have a pole of maps free for the taking.
