welcome to the forum! dont' worry MOST of the jacked up jeeps in jersey are just for show. if you want to tell if a jeep has been seriously off-roaded, or off-roaded at all, there are a few things you can check for. look at the skid plates and the muffler if they are banged up, dented, and scrapped you've found yourself an off-roaded jeep. also, get under the jeep and look for caked on mud on top of the skid plates, inside the fenders and fender flares and in any other hard to reach place or crevice. you can also check for burned on mud on the muffler and exhaust.
so, your from rahway? cool. i was born in lawrence harbor, moved to sayerville at 5, and then my family finally setteled in hunterdon county when i was 7. i've been here ever since.
BTW, when you get your jeep you should check out Jeep® Jamboree USA - Home
every year in May there is a jamboree in the pine barrens. it is a blast, my husband and i go every year. there are trails that are rated 1 (for beginners) through 6 (for more experienced jeepers).
good luck finding the one for you.
