Smile Thanksgiving day WEEKEND Meet N' Greet at THE PIC -trailride after?

HI all, i was wondering if people were interested in a Meet & greet at The Picalili Inn on thanksgiving weekend....
im going to try to get in contact with the owner, and see if hes alright with it.
i was just thinking like show off our rigs then go for a trail ride afterwords...
input would be awesome!
im gonna make this a poll just to see that the better DAY would be for everyone!
until then, JAPPY HEEPING!

Sadly every weekend wont work for every one but I think the pic/trail ride combo is a great idea so if this weekend works for you do it up. There is always other weekends for those of us who are "always home" you know..

Hey All! its been too long and i apologize, college is.... i hate it. ANYWAY i am going to still go out on saturday it seems, if there is interest then i will be going to The Pic to meet up with you.
As of now, i do not have a route planned, from the pic there are a couple of different places we could go.
1. Quaker bridge road and Batsto Village area.
2. Carranza and Apple Pie Hill into Chattsworth.
3. Farthur down 206 into the bogs which i am not very familiar with...

US-206 S to US-206 N - Google Maps

Just made this up on google maps. It is about 40 miles long and has some good stops in it.
i thought we could start at The Pic, go down about 1/2 a mile and hit up Hampton road, and head towards Carranza Memorial.
After that we would run through Carranza campground and up to Apple Pie Hill to go up the tower. If you have not been here before this is a really cool place to see and go! There will be water along the way as well!
after Apple Pie Hill, we would go towards Chattsworth, specifically Speedwell. Go down Speedwell road to where it meets Carranza at the old cranberry bog Ruins. Go down Hawkins Bridge road and make the long trek towards Historic Batsto Village.
Last we will head towards 206 again and end at The Pic for some amazing wings and food!

I will be riding this trail on my dirt bike this weekend to see if the trail is good and no bridges are out. if something s wrong young Batsto village we can go another route and hit up Quaker Bridge.

If this is good with you guys it should be a great ride! Make a few stops along the way!

What were you guys thinking about when we would start? 10? 11? bring lunch and eat it on the trail end at the pic probably around 4 or 5...
Any questions and feedback would help! have a good one!
-JACK

Were you on mudboys run? Is the tower the spot we had to go over ALL THEM WHOOPS? It was like a mile of whoops after a very weak bridge?

I HATE THEM whoops but that was a nice view.

Well there are trails back there with A LOT of whoops, i know which ones they are and the trills i know of that i put in the route do not have many at all. I will be checking this weekend when go home though. I was not on mud boys run but I'm gonna guess that Apple pie is where you went. It is a large orange and white fire tower at the top of a hill. Lots of trails lead to it. I ride dirt bikes as well so whoops are part of it all i guess, but they get really annoying after a little while.

Yeah man I understand they are apart of it but this one road was a night mare. I was told utility trucks use it a lot and the whoops were deep. To my knowledge there wasnt an actual tower of any kind up there it was just up a hill to a spot with a sick view and a BIG fire pit area. There was also a couple of sick hills to go down and up that one brave jeep took on.

Personally i do not. I am bringing multiple straps, chains, and a come-a-long. we shouldn't be going through anything that would need a winch, just a strap and a quick connect and pull out. The most you'd need is 4 LO... but again ill check this weekend.

Srad you guys are talking about two very different areas On mud boys run we were at the top of forked river mountain. He's talking about apple pie hill which is way farther down in Wharton. Just an FYI supposedly mud boy is doing another run this same day but with more "fun" areas and less over the road if you guys are interested

I was hoping we were talking about 2 different areas, lol. I can find my way through most areas of the pines but I dont know any of the names.

I heard about Mudboys run and didnt realize it was the same day as this one. I had originally planned on going on MBs but if its the same day Ill be going on this one...for a few rasons...I said I would first, and I havent had pic wings in way too long.

Alrighty all, so i rode the trail today, found a good way to go.
Its about 40 miles long, we start at The Pic and end there.
There are water wholes, most of them not that deep, and the big ones have "go arounds".
There is a good amount of deep sugar sand at the last 5 miles of trail, and there is a pipe at a water crossing that i will be taking my JEEP to test if we can get over.
STOCK jeeps may have trouble but i will make it as easy as possible at that point to make it less stress ful.

Sounds good to me man. My Jeep isnt the best for recovery (D30/35 3.07s and 35"s dont give me much pulling power) but Im sure we will easily pull them out if they do get stuck. Thats part of the fun.

Sounds like their are a couple other runs planned for this day, hopefully we can get a decent turn out, or maybe get some of these other runs to join us or something.

yea, whatever people wanna do. My trail isn't "HARD" but its the pines, there are some tight squeezes and optional mud/sand wholes. ALSO, Minimal whoops!
My JEEP isnt bad at recovery, if i just take it slow. i have stock rears and 3.07s on 33"s. But the place i think people will get stuck is more a place people just need to keep momentum, if they get stuck, we pull them out, no harm done. Ive pulled a couple of people out of there before with no problem.
