Wharton 7/21/12

Going to take my 2012 JKUR into Wharton for the 1st time. Was looking at a trail map on google maps. Planning on going in around Atsion and may drive the dirt roads down to Batsto. Since its my first time in, im looking for more dirt road than mud pits. Just want to explore a bit. What would be the best trails to take to get me down to the Batsto area without sinking my jeep in a pit. I have the 730nav unit in my Jeep. Does anyone know if the trails are marked on the 730 software? Ill also stop and grab a trail map at the ranger station in atsion. In addition, ill bring a handheld gps as a backup. Thanks for your help!

Dave

where from?

Where are you driving from?
I could help you pick roads.
If you come past my house with coffee and donuts, I'll tag along.

You probably already know this now...but you will really only find mud pits after a big rain. Today it was very sandy, very very few puddles & they were small.

Hope you had fun!!

We did make it out to Wharton on saturday. It was awesome. Very little mud though due to it being so dry but we had a great time exploring the trails. I did find a few mud puddles to play in but nothing extreme. We went in at Atsion and drove some of the trails down to Batsto then took different trails back to Atsion. Did about 35 miles on the trails. And if anybody is wondering, the trails are marked on the 730 nav system. I did take pics but I have no idea how to post from an iphone and ipad. Cant wait to get back down there.

My wife and I are heading to Wharton this Sunday. Along with out 2 jeeps there may be another 2-3 guys coming that I know. This would be our first time so if anyone else is planning to go, and wants to join up let me know.

Did you go in at the Atsion ranger station? I found that on the map, but are the trails marked or easy to find from there?
