K, just got an email from "Eric" one of the shows support members, He informed me that I do not need to buy a swapmeet space to sell my softop.. (so look for it there) lastly.. We that we might not attend seeing how the following weekend was our trip south.. thats right its been changed again.. So it's unclear if the boss wants to attend the show.. at least this could be a way to get to work out about Jeep Wrangler Nation on tumblr, Google & Facebook.
Hell we might even volunteer to help this event.. Give us a few more days to deside..

Doing just that.. As it stands, there is a 89% chance we are going to attend.. and I'll be volunteering.. The jeep (Angry Red Bird) maybe entered into the show n shine (not confermed yet)

We may not be able to stay very long.. (3 hours at the most) cause we have other important plans that day.

Aslo, Look for the "Jeep Wrangler Nation" logo/url posted on the front window.

See you there.

Here is our trouble..

We always attempt to plan things.. and when we do.. the plans are shot to hell.. So we've opted to get back to basics..

Flip a coin, see what direction we are going to be heading.. and do all this at the spur of the moment.. Or thats how we us to do it 20 years ago..

Thou Eric and those at the jeep show wanted us to volunteer at the event.. I'm not sure we're actually ready to do this, this year.. Perhaps next year.

Another hinderance.. is that fact that I'm trying to get a jeep club together myself.. that and plan a (well desirved) vaction.. I'm waiting for the final word about the show.. then I'll have to leave it upto the boss.. Currently she isn't in the mood to spend any money on anything..

So a few of my friends are thinking about going. What's the approx head count or vendor list. It's not just up the road from me. I don't mind the drive but if its a gathering I'm always up for meeting new faces but not for a show. I'd rather do that on a trail.

Thanks guys

I just got back... it was cool to see all the rigs got some good ideas, but I have to admit I was a bit disappointed. Thought they would have had more to do and see. The Kids had the pedal Jeeps but nothing else. Not a good food selection and only a few vendors. And what happened to the swap meet??

So I didn't go ... Nobody ever said anything about what it was really all about. Last thing I wanted to see was JK's with light bars.
As for a swap meet what was/wasn't there? If I came up to sell stuff it would have been Willys/CJ/YJ stuff. From what I heard it would have been a waste of my time.

Anyone have pics?

LMAO!

We were contacted to 'help out', but then were rebuffed when we offered our ideas. They were very unorganized and really had no idea how to run a large event. This was more like a meet-and-greet in a parking lot than anything else...

Mike G- We need to hook up and compare notes. I'm thinking we could pull off a big Md Jeep Swap Meet...

I was talking to the organizer (Bob) and he said he threw it together in 2 months time by himself. He told me that all the vendors he contacted were already booked up and could not attend. He also said he already has 37 vendors signed up for next year including Quadratec who has signed on to be the lead sponsor. He is trying to start another must attent event. They are also starting a new Jeep club (The Mid Atlantic Jeep Club). I'm sure the PA jeep show was not anything like it is today in it's first year. I'm hoping for a much better event next year.

No show starts out as a success. If it were closer to me I would have went down. I think it's awesome they tried to set this up and brought one people together. If you were there and didn't like what you saw how about being constructive? Give them a hand. If I could set something up with work I'd be more then happy to help out if I can. I will say that with enough notice and if they do it again next year I'll come up with my Jeeps.

Mike.. Here is what Happen on our end.. First I heard about the show late.. To late and I was trying to fit it in.. But our plans took over.. However, I did send an email informing than that we could try again next year.. But their email must have been sent up to spam my email.. 5 times I kept getting the same email back.

But lets go a bit deeper.. When I was able to get through to them.. I told them I wanted to show my jeep but help with the event.. Clearly they said I could help but didn't give me in clear data on if I'd be able to setup, clean the jeep before I could help.. In their words.. I was to take part of the security team and my wife was to be a ticket taker..

In this case.. I think its best that if anyone goes to any of these types of shows.. Best go case you want to and not case someone gives you orders to follow once your there..

This sort of run around turned us off.. The emails seemingly put words and promises in our mouths.. Which We never said we would do in the first place..

Mike.. I like what you said.. You'd rather have a meetup on the trail.. That's sounds way better then sitting by your jeep on a hot sunny day just waiting to see if you've won anything.. Mind you I know how these "car shows" work and we use to do it every weekend when we had 03 corvette..

Word of warning.. Even thou we took part in these corvette shows.. There is (and this can hold true at jeep shows) a small following of those jeep owners that make every attempt to damage your jeep.. And they have done so with our vette..

Our Goal was to goto one of these car shows get something to eat, listen to music.. and because we left the Vette (noobies at the time) unattended.. Well you get the pic.. However.. not all was bad news.. At every show went to in 2004.. our vette took 3rd place.. I simply turned around and gave the awards to the kids in our family..

Why is it so hard to get this type of respectable atmosphere at a jeep show.. Cause most simply do not view a jeep wrangler as something you show off.. More over They'd rather be driving through mud.. Then sitting in lawn chairs guarding their jeeps.. Which they will have to do from now on.

Lastly.. I've said it once and I'll say it again.. There are those who will undoubtedly seek out to damage your jeep at all cost.. IE caught some guy attempting to piss in our gas tank.. Then there was the time when I found out someone threw something in our tail pipe.. And finally, We've just noticed that the left door has a (shopping cart) size scratch running across the door..

You are very confusing. But thanks for your odd input on jeep shows....., didn't know where you were going with any of it
