I represent the U4WDA association within the Maryland Department of Natural of Resources Trail building team. We are in current negotiations with several entities to open OHV trails within the state of Maryland. DNR is dragging their feet. Md is extremely tight when it comes to using public lands for offroading. We're getting closer, but it is extremely difficult. Especially when Pennsylvania is opening hundreds of acres and earmarking millions of dollars for offroad recreation.

Sorry, that was super dry political talk.

I'm trying to get us more lands to wheel on.

It's just very, very difficult. Maryland is currently in 'green-state' mode so finding trails/lands to use for OHV's is hard. I know there are a shit-ton of illegal areas. Hell, I could prolly tell you where they are. All I can ask is that if you do go to any area, please don't post up the location or directions to the place. 'Private Property' would be safe...

Thanks.

Crofton here. Just got my '13 JKU Sport about a week and a half ago. Have 3 or 4 mods waiting in the garage. Now just need to find time to install.

Hub,
Thanks for your work on this issue. I would very much appreciate having legal trails in my home state. I know one of the trails north of Baltimore requires membership in Trouts Unlimited to ride. Maybe that would be an angle with DNR to open some stuff up. I, for one, would join damn near any 'green' organization to have convenient trails that I could hit for a couple hours on the weekend.

"Driving" on 295? More like parking! I started commuting on 295 daily about 3 weeks ago and haven't hit the speed limit between Arundel Mills Blvd and 32 yet.

Welcome. If you want to build it that's awesome! But get it out on the trail stock first. I can take you through some trails that are chalanging but fun. You aren't going to hurt anything but it will help you learn the basic stuff. My wife drives my four door so I usually take my 1995 or my 1945.

Has there any update to this? I know a buddy and I have went to local companies, mainly gravel companies, and ran the idea of turning old gravel pits and unused land into some OHV trails or a park of some sort. Thinking these companies are all about money but to them it seemed more of a liability. There is so much unused land in our area that these companies own and do nothing with. One spot that we go on was planted as a tree farm many years ago and has now become a dumping grounds for anyone that can access it. Its a shame that they see what we do and a bad thing and would rather their properties get filled with trash.

That would be awesome.Thank you! I've been in love with jeeps for awhile, but finally own one. I don't know ANYTHING but what I want my jeep to look like. Went to a few jeep events and saw what I can do even with stock...I just want to do it!! Looking forward to all the events next summer that I will be able to participate in.

If you're interested pm me. We can set a time to meet. You're close so if you'd like you could stop by the dealer and set a place and time to go, then that's cool too. I have messed up hours. You're welcome to bring another Jeep if you'd like. I don't care if you or another jeep owner has never been off road before. It's about having fun, not you skill level or what kind of bumpers or swaybar links you have. Lol.
Thanks.

I have had my 13" JKUR for about a month now already got it covered in mud off roading on some power line trails after a good rain.Got it stuck at work climbing the dirt hill from some construction work had it on the frame with all 4 tires off the ground. And just today got to pull a 30 yard dumpster about 20 feet to unblock a driveway. I love my jeep and if anyone wants to go 4 wheeling on the weekends up for it Just send me a message if you know any good places to go. Wouldn't mind going to Rausch creek PA on a weekend. just don't know anyone else with a 4x4 and they have a 2 vehicle requirement. Just send me a message if you want to go for a drive.
