Maryland newbie trails

Are there any good trails around here to take kids with a group of Jeeps? I've seen a lot of people talk about Rausch Creek. Is a 4 year old too young to take on my first adventure??

Unfortunately there are no legal trails in MD Rausch Creek, Big Dogs and George washington national forest are going to be your best bets.

Yeah Rausch is going to be your best bet. They have a 101 course which an instructor leads you through a lot of trails and obstacles. It was a lot rougher then I thought it was going to be so you may want to leave the little guy at home and evaluate it yourself first. You could also join a local wheeling group and have them take you out. I am a member of Element Off-road which you can find on Facebook.

All sound good. I used to do some off roading but it was years and years ago- with adults in the car. I'll give it a whirl solo for the first few times. I'm never going to climb a waterfall but figured it would be fun for my son. Thanks for the info. I assume there are trips that a big group plans and I can meet up with fellow Jeepers? And make an ass of myself

Here's a large group trip.

WF Ride at Rausch Creek 2! East Coast Meet up!

Also there is a large FB group called Maryland Jeeps/Element Offroad. We take trips often to RC.

Also you can check out RedCloud Offroad which is now open in NoVa. It is pretty tame but has some fun spots and is really good for kids because the amount of hair raising moments are kept to a minimum. The website is Red Cloud Off Road | Jeepers.
