in bradford county pa mostly in the middle of no where near to laquin, which is an old logging town.Barclay was an old mining town. at any rate a plague went through killed mostly every one. in the cemetary they buried people 4 or 5 people to a grave or so i hear. but you can see the sunken down graves and things. its kinda creepy. but if your into history of the area its worth the trip.
Damn, that sounds nutz. Wouldnt mind checkin that out. Have you heard about centralia, PA. I think that is how it is spelled. It is an old town that had a coal mine near it that caught fire underground burning the town from underneath slowly. Supposedly there are still a few buildings but all the roads to it are closed and a jeep or offroad vehicle is needed to go see it. I was told to be careful because the ground is actually burning hot in some areas and gas levels can be high from the burning coal. There is a website about it just google it.
i have acually been there. on a school trip there are indeed buildings still there with a few people left living there. in the right places you can see smoke or steam coming out of the ground. where abouts in Pa do you live?
I grew up in a little town called Hegins which is about 25 minutes from Centralia. My dad did business with a guy that lived there. He lived on the corner of two streets and the storm sewer grate on the corner of that street would have smoke coming out of it from time to time. When your a kid you think that's cool, but now I look back at it and it's actually pretty freaky. The house that guy lived in has been torn down along with most of the housed around him. You can still drive through some of it, but most of the town has been closed to the public.
The Discovery Channel, or the Science Channel, can't remember which, actually did an hour long show on it a few years ago.
