I`m looking to buy my first Wrangler

Hey, everybody!
I`m new to the forum, never had a Jeep or any american made car before.
But I really fall in love with Wranglers.
I`m trying to find one to buy at the time. I live in the city and got tired of all the sedans and minivans. Want a real car.
My budget ($7.5K-$10K) allows me to look for a good 1998-2002 TJ. Just can`t decide if I want 2.5L or 4.0L, manual or auto. I like the economy of 4cyl. but have heard that it suck with auto transmission. I`m going to drive it everyday to and from work (0.5-1.5 hours one way) and locally also. No mud, no mountains, no rock climbing... Just a beach sand, snow and asphalt

So, you all are welcome with any suggestions, details, pictures etc.
Thank You!

Welcome. I just recently bought my 1st jeep and I had no idea how much I would come to love it. I've always been a truck guy and was leery about giving up my bed, but no regrets so far. I love the maneuverability of my 2dr. If you are driving mostly in the city I would probably look for an auto trans, manuals can be a PITA in traffic. Not to mention the stop and go can really wear a clutch.

Did you get 2.5L or 4.0L? I still can`t make mind about that...

I got a JK and I think they only come with a 3.8. Or is it a 3.9? Can't remember.
