Join the Windshield down appeal!

Hello PA Jeepers, I just spoke with the cop that gave me the ticket for having my windshield down and got the ticket voided but he tole me that if I got enough people on my side about being able to have the windshield folded while driving that PENNDOT would make it legal (this is the same thing that motorcyclists did to make it do they didn't have to wear helmets)

So I ask you, as a fellow Jeeper, Join the fight for the right for no windshield!

I still have to research the proper way to do this, but I'll figure it out and post it up

Personally I still dont think its a smart idea to drive on the highway with it folded down but I guess I support your right to choose to do so.

As long as your wearing eye protection there is no difference between the wimdshield down and riding a motorcycle...go for it!

its not worth the effort. you will keep getting sent in circles. I had same idea after being pulled over for my doors being off. Got ahold of Pat Vance's office she transferred me elsewhere and the guy i spoke with told me it was the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration i had to get a hold of because it wasn't just a state law but country wide. Finally I got a response from them and they forwarded me elsewhere and i have not gotten any response back after 2 months of emails

I'll support this.

I'm guessing that you've never driven along side a good trout stream during a decent hatch. You'd never want to go without a windshield.

Wow I didn't know this was still active

I've found out that NOWHERE in PA laws does it say you can't have it folded down, you just have to have one and I carry all the legal documents in my glove box so untill the court tries to fine me I'll just keep this list of supporters

It's not my cup of tea (not that I've tried it yet) but you can certainly count my vote for it when the time comes.

Yes, it's true if the winshield has rarely/never been folded, and especially on an older Jeep.

Windshield Seal

Even more reason to try it as those gaskets tend to crack and leak all on their own and should be changed and upgraded if possible. keep silicone on them every time you move windshield and that will extend the life of the gasket and enhance yours if you really want to go windshield down, just be sure to lock it down as to not break it by bouncing!

Old thread, but this ^^^ is true. Think I'll get any looks putting my windshield down and riding around with my full face motorcycle helmet on?

here in Gettysburg Pa we do it all the time. you just need legal safty glasses. not just some pretty sun glasses. i see it done alot on old military jeeps. i quess it varies from town to town. they let us run with no doors, yet 3 towns away... they will nail you quick for no doors. the cops have a huge -------- for jeeps. Gettysburg even lets you take the doors off cherokees... as long as you have a seat belt and you aren't acting like a jackass.

if i remember right code says you have to have a windsheild, says nothinh about what position its in. i haven gottne pulled over for it or no doors but i carry the sticker off my top that says the doors and top are onlt for protection from elements and are not for crash protection.
