There are classes available but for me I went with a good crew my first time to Rausch. Rausch is pay to play but it's decently priced and camping there is free for members. Wharton is free to wheel in, again.. I ran with a good crew the first time and have been back numerous times now. If your ever down for wheeling let me know since we live near one another, if I am free I am usually down to wheel

I took the 101 class back in July, and I highly recommend it. I actually had to wind up taking one of the private classes during the week due to work being uncooperative with the weekends; I think it cost an extra 30$. Either way, it was the best money I have spent on the Jeep so far. The whole "class" is out on the trails, not literally a class in a room or anything. You learn by doing, and it is a solid 6+ hours of riding / doing obstacles.

It took me about 90 mins to get there from MontCo.

You guys are all making me homesick! I grew up in Aldan in Delco. Now I'm in south Jersey living in Marlton. I would love to go to Wharton but I'm working tomorrow. I got a '08 2dr X manual back in April and haven't done anything much more than dirt roads with some puddles and some sand pits.

Never been out to the Pine Barrens for off roading. What kind of trails / roads are out that way?

When I did google searches, I got a whole lot of talk on forums about tickets and running afoul of Rangers.

Mostly sand, there's trails/roads that are legal, but a lot of people get caught on the side trails and spots like half mile, where its a huge mud pit and highly patrolled by the rangers.

That is why I don't go to the pine barrens. The only stuff worth any time it not legal. Great for mall crawlers or newbs. Better off finding real off road spots instead of a bunch of dirt roads.

Newb or not, it's close and fun. I've been running there and have hit the legal trails and some are more than just dirt roads. Can't make it to Rausch all the time.

Supposed to be some spots at an old anthracite mine in Reading, but I have never been there and have no idea if it is open to the public, requires a fee / membership, etc.

Good spots don't go on threads in forums or they won't be spots anymore.

It is membership, and it is expensive for that place last time I looked. You need a year membership, and it is like $125 I think. I haven't looked at it in about 6 months or more though.

Yeah, that's exactly how a spot down in conshy got shut down, now they give out a nice little fine to anyone riding back there.

If anybody is in the Manayunk area and spots a black Bostich tool box with yellow/orange piping with a ton of tools in it for sale or a GoPro Silver Hero 3 for sale that looks fishy call me at (717) 676-0342. Someone cut my window last night.

I'm in ardmore, there's nothing around here. Closest spot I use to go was a power lines strip 30 minutes away but its since been blocked off.
