Pittsburgh Area Frame Welder

Hey everyone,

So unfortunately I'm having to deal with some frame rot at the center skid. I am planning to get some safe t caps from auto rust technicians. The problem is I do not own a welder and have zero welding experience. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good welder in the pittsburgh, specifically south hills region, that they would recommend for this installation. I've yet to start pricing around so if anyone has had something like this done can give me an idea of what to expect for installation costs that would be appreciated as well.

Thanks,

Adam

No one has any recommendations? Possibly someone with welding skills just looking to make a few bucks on the side. I have both the safe t caps on hand but still looking for someone to put them on.

I don't know of any shops in Pgh to do welding. I just have a couple buddy's that do their own welding but live near scottsdale and uniontown

I'll check into that, thanks. If anyone else knows of somewhere please let me know. I may just have to take the money I would spend on labor and put it toward a welder of my own and use this as a reason to learn how to weld.

Try a local body shop to see if they can do it. There is Vegley Welding in Duquesne, about a mile from Kennywood. They might be able to help you. I did the right rear frame end on my 92 with the Safe-T-Cap repair. I have a 110v wire feed welder from Tractor Supply. It wasn't that hard of a job to do and I'm not what you'd call a good welder.

I ended up finding a small local auto repair shop to do it at a very reasonable price. Just dropped it off yesterday. Can't wait to get it back, I'll try to post up some pics if anyone is interested in seeing how it turns out. Now the next issue will be finding a break in the weather where I can get that bare metal coated and rust protected before it sees too much of this road salt. Thanks everyone for the help.
