Rausch Creek Guided Tour?

So my wife bought me a 6 hour guided tour thru RC for my Bday thru some living social site. I'm all for it, I've never been there. Has anyone ever heard of this sort of tour? Most of the stuff I see from there are groups going up and what not. Not sure what to expect but it sounds fun for me and my son, regardless.

"...or use your own 4x4 for $99 (regularly $250) -- each including entrance fee for you and any passengers. Rausch Creek fans rave about the friendly, helpful staff and call the trails and pits "second to none," and you can choose from three rip-roaring tours: the Coal Mining Tour; the Phish and Crawl Bird Watching Tour; or the Hike, Bike, and Crawl Tour...."

Any input would rock. Thanks.

I've been to RC twice now. I've heard of the guided tours. The 101 is a "training" guide and I think the other is just a day of fun. They are very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for some tips/guidance... the 101 is the way to go.
RC is awesome!

These tour rides are different than the 101, they just started doing these tours that give you a little more information about the area and wildlife.

you can find more information about the tours here:

I had my children with me on Saturday (12,9,8) and I saw several younger ones out there... Like ones still in car seats! They loved it!!
Idk about where they ride. Sorry. They are very helpful. Give them a call. Their website is good too.
Have fun

Hi Misty, your kids seemed to be having a good time this weekend and one of other Jeepers in our group this weekend had his two girls, they have been in my group a few times and always seem to have fun. I didn't have my 5 & 7 year old with me this weekend but they have been going with me since they were 18 months old.

Don, reading the description that the rides are geared towards stock to mildly modified vehicles, so you will be sticking to fairly easy trails, so your 8 year old should be fine. I am pretty sure the guide will be in his own Jeep, if you had gotten the package where you were renting one of the park's Jeeps then there would be a guide in the Jeep with you.

You'll have a BLAST. Very kid friendly place. You're stock so they will keep you on the "green trails" Difficulty of trails is rated by color. When you drive in there will be a building. Stop by the ropes in front of the building and just walk in and talk to the nice ladies behind the desk. They are super helpful.

You'll hear/see some heavily modified jeeps in the parking lot. You'll also see some completely stock right off the lot. Rausch has something for everyone. I generally see quite a few dogs out there for the ride too!

Use the porta Jons out back before you go. You'll be in 4Lo the entire time (most likely). I doubt you'll go over 10 mph but you'll have fun and learn just what your jeep is capable of! Also take in the scenery and history. You'll prob see some old mining shafts up there.

Thanks again. Yea, I'll probably make an overnighter out of it and do the coal tour. My jeep is slightly modded (tires/lift) but it's my DD, I won't be doing anything nuts with the kids in there.

RC is awesome!
What's up girlfriend? Did you go to RC for the Topless for TaTa's fundraiser? Had a ton of fun.

I've heard great things about the 101 Course.

I have some people you need to meet, and a Charity run through the Pines in October. We have a run August 25 set up as well. Ever been to the Batona camp grounds?

Sounds great... New people... Charity events... MUD! Aug 25? Where? And nope... Never heard of Batona. Where's that?
Did you do the T4T raffle? I won 50% off a lift kit and some other cool stuff... I didn't see you in there.

Not to jump into the conversation.. but are you talking about Batona in NJ? I hear that pretty good primitive camping down that way.

Did you ever go on this tour ? I wanna take my stock 12 sport to rausch for some fun, but i can't wreck it or do anything super technical. I'm just wondering how the trails are there and if they have enough easy trails to make it worth the trip from NJ

Not yet. Have to find a good free day to make arrangements. I did ask on their forums and it can be a group tour. A friend of mine who also had a jeep is going to go as well. More the merrier.

I've taken my stock JKU'12 there twice. The blue are a little tricky if you don't have a guide. Green are great! if you don't want the guide, go with others that know the area well! There are more than enough trails for you to have fun on.
I can't break mine either! I did dent the front bumper but that was on a blue trail and I was being silly. I think you'll be happy you went!! Enjoy

If you want information you can post up in the WF Ride at Rausch Creek - 7/27-7/29 Thread and ask. We have lots of pics in there as well. I took a group out at the end of July and we had a ton of stock JK/JKUs, a stock YJ, near stock TJ, and many modded vehicles. The green trails are very stock friendly, Mostly rutted out dirt trails and shallow water holes. There are other greens that are tougher dirt/mud and off camber etc. You shouldn't have any issue, and no breakage. Our stock guys have no breakage, actually the only breakage we had was a guy pushing hit modded JKUR too hard, and it was just a steering stabilizer. As with any wheeling, your gona get dirty, if your wheeling in the woods you might get a few scratches. Overall you will do fine if you stick to greens, and even venture onto blues you should be fine. The key to safe wheeling is to go slow, take your time, and have a good spotter on the tough stuff.
